I'm an electrician, I'm sure I can get plenty of 1/2" nuts :-)

Again, I'm not sold on any specific brand. I'll do some more research throughout the week as well as any hands on that I can get at local audio shops....

Were you trying to sway me to build my own box? I'm gonna to some talking to some guys at work, I'm sure I can find someone that is handy with a little bit of woodworking, but lets pretend that I'm using that box (for now) :-P

thats fine, the design will be 100% the same whether u buy one or make it, with the space us 150 owners have there isnt really any way to do anything different, i just brought that up about the box because as you can see the price is raised SO much when another company does it for you...versus you making it yourself

i want you to do 2 10" re re subs, or 2 8" sundowns, i can provide links if you would like, on a simple zx 300.1

and what you need the 1/2 nuts for is you can raise your seat with those, you may need longer bolts but its definetly cheap and works all the same, then take those a washer and a screw and add them to the feet of your box...its VERY inexpensive and works all the same

it can be done VERY easily....from your headunit all youll be running is 2 wires

then you will need a pos and neg run from your battery under the hood...all can be hidden very easily under the kick pannel down the side pannels (the plastic pieces you step on at teh edge of your door) those pop up very easily and have plenty of room for your wires...you will have to run power and negative on one side and rca's and remote on the other at risk of getting engine whine, but no biggie...u can get all the wire you need for around 50 bucks

Dude, are those sub's really going for under $50 apiece on ebay (link at bottom...)? Are these the absolute best for under lets say $100 apiece?

These only have a 175w rms, but the amp is rated for 300w. From what I've read the ideal amp would be a 350w (175x2). Is this a good rule of thumb and is 50w under not a big deal? I'm used to bumping up if it's over the recommended rating, just wanting to make sure!!!

I know I ask alot of questions, but research is my best friend!

yes those subs would be very good for your application...yes they are 175w rms, but that kicker amp is under-rated...it should come with a birthsheet showing the actual power it puts out, you should be able to expect 350w rms at 2 ohms from that amp...which is what you need...so all should be well...the nice thing about not going "mainstream" i.e. items sold at best buy or circuit city is you can get as good/better quality for cheaper!!

didnt realize those subs were dual 4....you might wanna step up to the zx 400.1, its a lil more expensive but still can be had for under 150 bucks....the kicker amps put out optimal power at 2 ohms, but sadly with 2 d4 subs you wont be able to reach 4 ohm final load (see link below) so you wouldnt be getting proper power at 4 ohms, it would still be enough power to get them bangin, but it wouldnt be rms power...running at 4 ohms is also easier in your electrical...if you would like i will throw up a link to the zx 400.1 (i own the 400.1 as whell, its a great lil amp)

Hm.... I'll see if I can find a new 400.1. I'm not really looking for a refurb so it might cost just about what you said. Still a pretty cheap system...............

This link comes with 4 gauge ground and power leads for $19 more than without (8 gauge mfg recommendation...
