You've stuck with JL products the whole way, and they happen to sell a StealthBox for the F-150 that's a perfect match for that amp. There certainly won't be any shortage of low-end fill with it, and my experience with JL subs has been nothing but positive. You'd have a well-rounded, well-matched, all JL Audio system that will sound fantastic.

I just got done installing a xd1000/5v2 and I'm really happy with it so far. I'm still in the process of breaking in my speakers so I haven't turned anything up or set my gains/eq yet. It's a lot of power for such a small package and it's pretty convienant to power my entire system with one amp. JL offers the stealth mod upgrade and from the instructions for installing that kit I was able to desgin a mounting plate that mimics what they use but bigger to accomadate the large amp and crossovers. I mounted mine on the back wall as apposed to in the door. I'm really pleased with how it turned out but still have some clean up to do. Overall I don't think this was a difficult process but it does consume some time. I went throught several failed versions of my mounting plate before finding one that works. It will be a huge pain in the *ss if I need to change the wiring as it is really low on the rear wall.

As for the subs I'm in the same boat as you and have just posted asking for help on that subject as well.

Here are some pics of the amp:

Should you use a vibration dampener? Absolutley! Should you use Fatmat? That is debatable.

I was called out pretty quickly on the forum for using Fatmat and for good reason. One, it is an asphalt based sheet so it’s not an as affective deadening material as a butyl base. Two, asphalt tends to melt in areas that see temp extremes so there is the possibility that your Fatmat (or any asphalt based deadener) will slide right of the wall. That being said I purchased Fatmat because the website where I bought my adapter plates was selling it and I didn’t do any research before buying it. I decided to leave the Fatmat on my rear wall, pillars, and rear speaker adapters because it would be a real pain in the *ss to get back off. Also it’s pretty easy to get access to those spots as compared to disassembling my doors if it does happen to fail. I did by some dynamat extreme for my doors for that reason. If you can afford to buy better deadeners look into something like second skin or dynamat extreme. So to answer your question I haven't had much success, I'm still in the middle of working on my doors, just got the dynamat in yesterday. My opinion is I only want to do this once so it's worth the time and effort of installing.

Even with a good vibration dampener you can’t stop there. The next step is to add a sound deadener like MLV (Mass loaded vinyl). In my third picture you can see some of it hanging out by the crossovers on the right. A layer of CCF (Closed cell foam) is attached to the MLV then hung in place with the original carpet matting over the top of it. I still need to get some black plastic clips and tag that down. If you can go to this website it will teach you a lot about prepping the truck for a sound system: http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/area-treatment/doors

It’s only been a day so it might be a little early to say this but it doesn’t appear that I will get much help on the sub debate so if you have a question shoot me a PM or ask here.
