Default Component speaker questions

My understanding of a component speaker consists of three parts. A tweeter, crossover, and woofer.

Im still shopping for options on a speaker upgrade. I was considering these JL Audio components as a replacement for the front door speakers and tweeters.

https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item...io-C1-690.html

The price is right, but where is the crossover ? Do these work independently from each other off the factory wiring ? Am I better off just sticking with coaxial speakers and tweeter upgrades ?

I plan on installing one of those class D mini amps ( Alpine, Pioneer, Sound Stream ) to power whatever speakers I install ( Not an over the top build here ).

Look at the manufacturers site for the crossover details http://www.jlaudio.com/c1-690-car-au...-systems-99046

They use an inline crossover. Instead of a little box, there's a resistor at each speaker. These are actually easier to use in our trucks because they don't require running new speaker wire to the tweeter like a standard crossover box does.

Good to know ! I was really confused as to how the hell these would work.

tenx82,

In your sig you are running a compact amp from Kicker and the Focal's. This amp is plug and play into the OEM speaker wiring correct, or did you have to run new wiring ? I am looking for an amp that I can connect to the OEM wiring with a harness adapter and call it a day.

Yes, it is. I used the ISO-SOT-984-w harness from eBay. It's the same as the For11-CK, but cheaper.

I'm actually looking to sell my whole setup to go bigger. If you're interested, shoot me a PM. I can include everything you need.
