Of those, Id take the Polk's first and probably the Infinity's second. JL Audio makes some of the best subs and amps in the world but their speakers dont impress me much at all aside from midbass performance.
Unless youre wanting a simple drop in speaker, I suggest getting as good a quality 6.5 as you can afford, fabbing up or buying an adapter and going that route.

Also, wouldn't the 6.5 put out less of an RMS than a 6x8? I know in the other thread you were saying 6.5 have more choices but are they have equal power output and better sound quality for the appx same price?

So again, its not the shape thats the problem, its the lack of high end options at that shape. But if your either cant afford high end speakers or dont care about having high end speakers then a quality 6x8 like the Polk MM's (which are actually 5x7's) or the Infinitys would be a good way to go. JL Audio aint a bad route either. Their speakers arent my favorite and I always thought they were kinda ho-hum (Ive ran a set of their ZR components) but theyre extremely well made and do perform well.

Yea man, before I'd do it up right with high quality but now that I have a wife and son, they tend to evaporate the funding for "non-essential" stuff.
I just want out of these horrible stock cardboard speakers.
I'm still going to run the stock deck with its prefab amenities like Sirius radio that I think is only proprietary to the stock truck deck.
It doesn't seem to be a big deal to give the dealer those 6.5 adapters though if a decent set for $200-$300 for 4 speakers. I'll get a 5 channel amp and get a sub later down the line most likely.
I do have a Alpine Type R 12 that's sitting from my other car but I don't think a 12" will fit in a super crew, right?
What's the best most economical set of speakers and size and what 5 channel amp would you recommend?
