For me it was not about the sound so much as the look. I HATE how tacky most aftermarket HU's look. Especially at night. I think aftermarket manufacturers see who can make the brightest, most annoying light functions. Not to mention, the factory speakers in any car always sounds best with the factory HU. Anytime I have changed out my deck in past cars, I got reduced sound quality. I did a little research and found that alot of factory HU's have small amplifiers inside wich is the reason that they cost so much most of the time. They are not so much for power / bass, but for clarity and quality.

If I were to swap out this deck, the factory speakers would go out with it and a small amp would be installed to get the same quality.

You guys mention that the adapter will allow you to switch to it using the AUX function. Is this on trucks WITHOUT sirius or will the AUX button now switch from sat1, sat2, sat3 and now the ipod adapter?
Also.. has anyone seen or used the FM converters that are hardwired into the radio instead of pluged into the lighter and transmitting thru the air.It plugs in between the antenna connections and runs to radio power.

Hey there golden-lariat a quick couple of questions for ya,did you install the pxamg ipod adapter by peripheral electronics in your truck? Also is it the single cd factory hu?
The reason I ask is I purchased one of those off ebay and had to ship it back because my radio didn't recognize it,all it would do is say NO AUX AUDIO when I pressed the AUX button?I wonder if the adapter I got was faulty?

Yes I did finally get it to work, the issue was my factory single cd hu, in 2005 the hu's couldn't recognize any aux inputs, I had to buy an hu from a 2006 and my problems were solved,I ended up using a Blitzsafe ford can mlink adapter I can now browse the ipod using the factory hu's buttons, the only problem I get now is when I browse the ipod too fast the display will freeze, but on the up side the sound is really good better than a cd I think. You can purchase hu's on ebay lots of good deals on there, good luck.
Thanks to all the members who helped through this, glad I could pass this along.
