Default Best Aftermarket radio for 08'

I have an 08' and im tired of the same old crappy stock radio, so i was looking to replace it with one that has an LED screen and bluetooth and whatnot. So, my question is, is it hard to do this? What is the best bang for your buck aftermarket radio (doesnt need nav)? Do i need to buy anything else when i go to install it?

Are you going to install yourself, or have someone do it for you. It's not really that hard. You'll need a stereo, dash kit, harness, etc. You can get an adapter that'll keep your factory steering wheel controls working as well. Just about anything will sound better than stock.

if you want a stereo that always plays DVD's, the Pioneer Avh-280bt isn't a bad place to start. Can get it on Amazon for about $175. I have an AVH-x490bt that I bought for about $260 brand new on eBay.

Just depends on what you want. But like the guy above me said, anything is better than stock

Thanks for that info. That was stopping me from getting an aftermarket. What about the stock speakers?

typically they will sound "better" as the aftermarket deck has more power and no pre-set eq curve. it's a slippery slope though... first the radio, then the speakers, then an amp, maybe a sub...

Well, I swapped my head unit AND my speakers, just not all at once. I did the speakers first, and they sounded better by themselves: https://www.f150forum.com/f78/my-200...0/#post4956750

And then I swapped in a new head unit, and now everything sounds great: https://www.f150forum.com/f78/my-200...3/#post5236996

Admittedly mine is a 2007, but same generation.
