I have always gone with Pioneer speakers. Always been a big fan and they always sounded good IMO. I had a 10" Memphis sub in my last truck and it sounded great.
Yes you can. That is what I did. I installed a PAC AOEM-FRD24. Simple plug n play install. No cutting or tapping wires. Still have factory HU and Sync/steering wheel controls work. Have a 2011 XLT

Swapped out the 4 stock speakers for a couple sets of Pioneers TS-A6872R 6x8 speakers ($54.99/set at BestBuy). Substantially better sound over the stock speakers for a reasonable price. Stock head unit, no amp.

Hey Nobman -- did you need to purchase a separate crossover for that kenwood amp you installed? Or does that amp have a built in crossover?

Thanks!

My amp is a 2 channel amp. I ran all 4 door speakers thru the front channel and the Sub thru the rear channel. With the rear door speakers being so close to the front speakers (Regular Cab) I did not think I would make much of a difference.

Thats exactly what im thinking for my 2004 fx4 Supercrew...it has a 6 disc changer that i wanna keep, my only fear is after i add the new speakers ( 6x8 kenwoods ) and possibly a new amp w/ 12" Kicker sub...the HU will be too weak to power it...?? wondering if im overthinking it?? ne1?

I.d go with three ways, and amp them. I've had a set of Polk 6501 MM's for a few months now. Been pushing them with a Fosgate 400 watt, but sometimes wish I'd just gotten a good set of 3 ways. I'm not sure what it is but it just seems that sometimes they have a hard time deciding whether to play a sound through the woofer or the tweeter (the Polks I mean).

I have been thinking about getting these Boston Acoustic SR80 5"x7" for my rear doors. I would like more bass but can't sacrifice my space under my rear seats. My two Labs ride in the back seat area all the time. Anyone considered plate speakers for a little more bass?
