Best $400 set up? 2011 Supercrew XLT

Hey guys. I'm new to the car audio stuff and I'm thinking I want some subs in my truck. I've set aside $400 from tax returns so I wanna stay in that range. I listen to country, rock, and some rap. I don't want something obnoxiously loud, just something that's clean and sounds good.

I asked the same question in another forum and got a couple suggestions but I wanted to see what you guys think. One idea was to run a 4 channel amp to power some new front door speakers and a pair of 8's. That on probably makes the most sense so far because the stock speakers suck. Anybody else have a similar setup? Other suggestions? Thanks!

For $400 check out this thread https://www.f150forum.com/f30/sound-...b-8pts-141623/ Sound Ordinance B-8PTS they will fit behind your seat and self contained if your just wanting a little bump these will do it.

Adding an amp and subs plus the Line output controller to convert to rca to go to the amp from the stock head unit you might be pushing that $400 a little bit further. 2 of those SO b-8pts are right at $400/ $199 each.

Oh those look pretty sweet. Pretty much what I'm looking for but I could probably do the 4 channel amp, front door speakers, and a couple 8s in a custom box for the same price. The only tradeoff would be the under seat space. But I'd have higher power door speakers.

One 12" pioneer shallow sub-$100
Front speakers -$100
PAC- $50
4 channel amp -$150
$400 total not including amp wiring kit and wood/materials to build the box. It can be done but you need to shop smart. Check out your local craigslist...always good stuff for cheap there

I just got all my stuff in for my audio upgrade, and in the end for all 4 door speakers new speaker wire and amp. After doing research I got all the parts I wanted after saving up. the Places I ordered from were

www.vminnovations.com
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/
http://www.techronics.com/
and
www.amazon.com for all the small stuff like speaker wire and amp wiring kit.

Infinity Kappas in the doors and JL XD600/6 amp with Audio control LC6i and I'm re using my sub from my old truck. I also did sound deadening with Stinger roadkill. I will be doing a post on my install once I get a chance to do the install.

Would I need to replace the speaker wires if I run a 4 channel to power the front door speakers (thinking about Polk db651 - 60 watts rms)?

ReSQDiVER 03-12-2012 11:15 PM

I'm running new speaker wire just for the chance of an upgrade later more than what I'm doing now. stock wire is only about 18 gauge and I'm going up just a little to 14 gauge my fronts will be at 75 watts and my rears will be running 100 watts. I like the idea of better safe than sorry and dont want to mess with any of the stock wiring in case I have issues with something electrical like too much power for the stock wires and cause something bad to happen like a fire or dead short.
