Bad Speaker or radio?

Bad Speaker or radio?
So while waiting for my wife to come out of the grocery store last night I started messing with the balance and fade controls on the stock radio in my 2013 STX to entertain myself.
When I shift the controls so that sound should mostly be coming from the passenger side rear speaker the volume is very low and the sound is very "scratchy" as compared to when I shift it to the driver side rear speaker.
Short of swapping speakers does anybody know if the issue is speaker, radio, (or maybe even wiring?) related?

I’d put money on the speakers. Just did mine this past week. Found the magnet wasn’t adhered to the speaker frame. When I took the offending speeker out, I grasped the magnet to move the voice coil only to feel no movement. With a slight tug on the magnet, it dropped off in my hand and the coil began to move. Cheep Chinese manufacturing I guess. Hope this helps.

Sounds like the speaker. You can get some inexpensive ones from crutchfield. You could take a look and make sure your wiring is still plugged up good though.
After I installed my new speakers the windows rolling down unplugged them. A few zip ties and all is well.

Plus this is just the excuse I need to upgrade the speakers.
I have a new Kenwood DDX774BH sitting here waiting to go in once the weather warms up.

Similar problem
In my 2014 the left front speaker wasn’t working so I replaced all speakers with upgraded aftermarket. They worked nice for a week or so,,now I only have the right front and the tweeter on drivers side.

Double check the speaker connectors. They tend to fail often so it might fix the issue if you solder the leads on instead of using the plugs.

It was a connection on left front now the rear are out so I’m betting one of them came loose also.A friend helped but I won’t tell him what the problem was. That was his department. Thanks
