Great info around. I'm close to getting what I want as well. May actually try without the amp at first just to try. Going with coax in rear door and comp in front with tweets mounted on upper door. Can't wait to get stuff finalized and ordered.

Well I bought an FX2 with stock radio and this is the following I am planning on installing

- Pioneer TS-A6874R A-Series 6"x8" 3-Way 350 Watts (Door Speakers)
- Pioneer GM-D8500M Class-D Mono Amplifier with 1200 Watts Max. Power
- Pioneer TS-SWX310 12-Inch Shallow Series Preloaded Enclosure (I can fit this one under the seat in the back)
- Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT Flagship In-Dash Navigation AV Receiver with DVD Playback

All of this is about $1300 which is way cheaper than the upgraded factory. I dont think I will be installing the sync again since i should be able to do the same things with the Pioneer System, besides maybe 911 Assist and the Vehicle Health Report i don't think there is anything else i will miss.

Let me know what you guys think of this. I am not sponsored by Pioneer but as far as I know is a good brand and it was easier to get the same brands, my local Audio shop was trying to charge me almost $2000 for lower quality of what i just found. Just got to put some elbow grease when is something important.

I just updated my stock speakers and added a sub. I added Infinity speakers and they sound awesome. They are not even amplified by external amp, just stock HU.

I too am powering my speakers (Polks) from the factory HU and it has plenty of power for my needs.

Just curious Bug. What year is your truck? Does it have the Molex connectors for the wiring going from the cab to the door? If so you need to consider how to wire the speakers. It can be done but it takes extra thought and effort.
