Anyone using shallow mount subs?
#2
So far, from all my testing, the JL Audio 13TW5 is the best performing one thus far. It's, of course, the most expensive as well. The Alpine Type Rs are also dope and cheaper. Then comes the rest of the crew sounding decent but not as good which are the ones you listed. You definitely need to give it the proper box to sound as best as possible. None will sound like a full sized sub but some can get fairly close to sounding like one. I'd suggest powering the sub to the maximum recommended amps to get the best sound out of them as possible. They should be able to handle a tad over the max ratings safely. Hope this info helps you. Let me know if you want to order something and I'll see what I can do to help on costs. PM me, please.

JLTW3, TW5, TW1. Oncore SM series. Stereo Integrity BM MK V 12.
Click on one of those three and you will find something that will make you happy. Possibly lighter in the wallet than what you were looking at, but happier.

What enclosure is that? A JL enclosure?
I'm a massive JL fan - used to run 2 x 10w6's in my last F150 and they were insane. Sold them, they are gone unfortunately.
I would be very interested in their TW's. Little more than I want to spend but i know they are worth it.

The 13TW5 is really an amazing sub. The main thing you'd have to consider is the mounting depth for any shallow to fit in an enclosure under the seats. This particular sub has a 2.625" mounting depth which allows you complete confidence it will work with pretty much any enclosure. There is no vent hole in the back of the sub so you can practically mount it flush to the back of the box. Not recommended to be absolutely flush due to vibrations but I think you get the idea. It's a $599 subwoofer retail but I happen to know a forum vendor that can get you a better deal on these.
