I have a question on the DSPs you guys have mentioned. I have a 2016 Screw, non Sony, with Nav.

I'm currently running Illusion Audio 6" coaxs in the front with a Mosconi/Gladen 5 channel amp and a small JL 8" Sub box. It definitely sounds better than the stock system, but not what I am hoping for. I don't need a boom boom system. My listening choices lean towards Tool, Chevelle, and Godsmack.

Will a DSP, when properly tuned, make that much of a difference? I'm not looking for anything close to competition sound. Just want it to sound better.

I've read up a little on the JL Fix/Twk boxes, the RF 360.3 and the Mosconi. Do I need a 6to8 or can I get away with the 4to6?

The last time I did anything serious with car audio was 20 years ago when Hi-Fonics, Precision Power, and MB Quart were considered "high end".

A DSP can make a world of difference and make it sound like a totally new system. With a DSP you can level match, dialing in each frequency to where it's best for where you sit, fix response errors, correct time alignment, set your own crossover points. The sky's the limit really.

Now if you're talking about DSP's like the JL Audio Fix, you can't control what it EQ's. It's just used to fix the signal coming out from your head unit, making it a nice level response, boosting that signal and then sending it out to a DSP like the Twk or Helix DSP or Alpine H800 or something like that. Those are manually tuned and have a ton of features and options that you can control.

If I were you, and based off what you`re looking for, i`d get a 2 way component set for the front and ditch those coaxial speakers.

Use two of the channels to run each tweeter and two channels to run each midrange. Your fifth channel will run the sub.

Forget about the rear doors because you really don`t need them.

As far as the DSP goes, all you really need is the JL Fix or an Audio Control LC6i.

an alternative DSP would be the jbl ms-8. you can tap into your factory wires and it will do everything - process the factory signal it's receiving, set the crossover points for 1 to 8 speakers, time align, level match and more, and after some minor input from you the supplied headphones do the rest.

it's not all peaches and cream though. if can take a couple runs through the entire process to get a great end product. the more precise your head movements are while calibrating the better the results will be. it's not hard, and kinda fun actually.

i'll be installing one in this new to me truck as soon as the weather breaks, along with a lot more stuff

Wow, they`re still making that thing?

I`m not sure of the age of it but it has to be between 7-10 years old.

It was a good unit for it`s time but the current crop of full DSP`s will blow it away.

lcsmall...which Illusion driver are you using? If it's the Carbon C6CX you can run them active.
I'll be running those for rear fill with the Carbon C6 up front.
I'm a long time Mosconi/Illusion/Focal guy. I love everything ORCA brings in.

AudioControl DM-810... got one in a box just waiting to go in... along with an alpine PDX-v9 and a set of Hertz Hsk-163's. I may use 2-way crossovers and just use one of the 3.5's for the center channel and pick up another pdx for the rears. Not sure what rear speakers and sub I will use. Jl audio stealthbox is well over a grand, but I had one in my mustang and it was worth every penny.

I have a 17 XLT with NAV and non-Sony. I'm just looking for a good harness to minimize stock wiring hacking. Suggestions?

Nice choices on your preferred equipment.

As far as amps go, i`m partial to the JL HD amps but back in the day when it came to amps, It was either Soundstream or Linear Power. I`m not sure of your age but the Soundstream today is nothing like it was back in the late 80`s.

These past 4 years, my speaker of choice are the HAT Legatia and the JL TW3 subs.

Have you heard the Audio Frog GB series?

Talk about a great sounding speaker line.

Thanks for every ones responses. Im using the Electra E6 CX. These will eventually be used for rear fill and i will get the Luccent L6 components for the front. Im using the RC 150 c5 Gladen Amp. While it is !00% better than stock sound, I want more. It seems there is no inexpensive route to a DSP and tunung.``

The DM-810 looks like it`s going to be a good unit but Audio Control totally blew it years ago and now they`re trying to catch back up to the market.

If they really would have stuck to it, they could own the DSP market today because they owned it back in the mid 80`s to the early 90`s.

Also, I don`t think the DM-810 de-equalizes the factory preset equalization curve and I didn`t see anything in the manual on the website stating that it does.
