amp mounting question...
so i have my amp mounted on the back wall (04 supercrew) but i have noticed that A LOT of people are mounting it on a piece of mdf.... my amp is just mounted on the wall, would that hurt my amp in the long run or are you guys just doing that for a cleaner look?

they say you arent supposed to mount amps to any metal surfaces. not completely sure why, maybe parts can ground out on it? id probably put it on a board just to be safe, i just have mine under the seat on the carpet.

Mounting it on plywood (like I did) is advantages for several of reasons:
You can use existing holes in the back wall of the truck to mount the plywood without drilling new holes in the truck to mount the amp. This also allow the amp to be installed anwhere along the back wall that you wish. My 2009 FX4 Supercrew is pretty tight along the back wall.
Plywood provides some sound insulation.
Plywood provides electrical insulation from the metal body of the truck.
Plywood allows the wiring to be mounted in a cleaner configuration.
