Amp install, need some direction
I have a kicker dx400.4 laying around and want to add it to my truck. I have a 2017 XLT with the 8” radio with CarPlay. I am hoping someone can point me in the direction of the best way to add this to my system to run my door speakers utilizing my factory wiring and retain my steering wheel controls. The amp accepts hi level, speaker level inputs. I basically want to tap my amp into my system and just plug and play door speakers. I have been told to use a LOC and others have told me to simply use wire to rca adaptors but both seem to involve running new wire. Am I missing something? Any links to posts that I am missing or additional information would be appreciated!

The amp won't affect your swc, but you will need to run wire almost certainly. That amp is too big to sit in the dash or console area, so you'll need to mount it somewhere there's space, which means getting signal to it and then back out of it. With an LOC, you can wire it up near the radio or amp, then run rca cables to the amp. From the amp, you'll run speaker wire to the car's harness to tap into it. If you went this way, I would recommend the following:
Hook up plug/play parrot harness behind radio. Connect this to a pair of speedwire looms.
Run pair of speedwire to where the amp and LOC are mounted. One for input and turn on power, the other for output.
Connect input to LOC. LOC to amp. Amp to the output.

This basically adds the amp in line to the factory in/out wiring in the easiest way.
If you're 100% opposed to wiring at all, I'd look at getting a microamp like https://www.crutchfield.com/p_158XMS...c&awug=9026958 This along with a parrot harness does the same as above without running the wiring to/from amp since it's all there at the dash.

Thanks so much! What about using the following?

Can I tap the rear speaker wires and run these to my amp? Then from my amp to the parrot harness you mentioned or straight to the door speakers? Seems like a possible cheaper solution to the LOC. Thoughts?
