No you can retain your sync as well as the steering wheel controls with that unit.
Pac does make a sync interface for those of you who want to change your head unit, but i personally think its tacky because it adds a new small screen to control the sync and i refuse to put that in my truck.

One last thing though....right now I notice if I change the fader on my factory head unit to all the way to the front speakers they play louder and actually pretty clear, but if I change it to all the way to the rear speakers they don't play nearly as loud and I'm pretty sure they are where my problems with the muddy sounding vocals are coming from. If this is the case, the LC6i I'm looking at getting (haven't ordered yet... Need approval from the boss) will allow me to clean that up and I will actually be able to get the same volume from the rear speakers as the front, correct?

Yes it should clean up the signals nicely, the stock head unit makes some pretty steep eq lines on the rear speakers. I would assume this will be fixed to an acceptable sound quality.

Awesome, thanks for the info and advice. This will be what I will end up doing for sure.

Well I stopped by the place that installed my front and rear speakers and he gave me some discouraging news. He said that the LC6i wouldn't do a very good job of cleaning up the rear channels and it really wouldn't improve the overall quality like I was hoping. He said if I was happy with how the front channels sound he would recommend using a couple loc's fed off the front channels into a 4 channel amp to the 4 speakers. Doing that would run me around $600-700 buying everything from them including all parts and labor. The other option was a clean sweep which would add a couple hundred more on top of that. So I guess I'll likely just live with what I have now.

FYI, if you're changing out the head unit you do need the pac controller to use the sync. Unless you know of a head unit that has a audio input that will over ride the music being played for the sync.

Yeah after doing some more reading I'm sure that he was just misinformed, or was just trying to push the clean sweep on me. I'll make a few phone calls to other places this week. There's several Audio Control authorized shops in the Chicago area. I'll see what they all say.
