Alpine or kicker?
Hey guys,
I finally narrowed my search down to 2 subs... a 10 inch Kicker L5 or a 10 inch Alpine Type R shallow mount. the Type R shallow just came out and looks very nice but i was wondering everyones view on this question " Kicker L5... or Alpine Type R"?
I learned through reviews that most people say Alpine more clear but on the other hand, kicker is very loud. (I know it mostly depends on what amp you power it with, what you listen to and all, but which one is more durable... louder... ect?)
(Also is there a noticeable difference between a L5 and an L7?)
Any imput is appreciated
Thanks!

Two big questions are how much do you have to spend, and how much power do you have to push them with (RMS, not peak/max BS). All other things equal, a sub with a higher sensitivity will normally be louder, 3dBs = doubling the power = adding another speaker at the same power.

the sub is truly based on ur listing .. i have 12's 10's in kicker ls7 and cvt and pioneer new shollow mounts(in my truck now) amp power is also a big deal .. cant feed a beast with peanuts.. im running a 1500 watt class d ... if its thundering bass u want the i would got ls 7 if its crisp thumping bass alipline.. hope it helps ..

Kicker all the way, alpine has awesome decks and components but kicker subs all the way. My personal preference is Polk db components but a 15" L7 in my focus hatch. I havent had a single problem with my kicker subs or amps. My Kicker zx750.1 i've had for at least 3 years and still going strong. Just me .2 cents.
