Default 13' XTR stereo head unit upgrade **4.2" display w/sync**

Okay guys/gals.

I have decided to upgrade the stock head unit in my 2013 White XTR Super crew 4x4. Truck is sitting on 20's with the chrome package, 4.2 inch display with Sync. I do not have the kicker system in my truck.

I will post pics below on the head unit I have ordered which will save the 4.2 inch display, change the heat/air controls and allow me to add an aftermarket double din deck and connect aftermarket sub and amp.

Head unit - Metra 99-5830B unit, with wiring harnesses to keep all factory controls in the steering wheel, blue tooth, XM, and Sync

Double Din Deck - Kenwood DDX370 DVD receiver

you tube demo of metra 99-5830b

I will post before and after photos once the parts get here and i complete install.

Does anybody have any suggestions on a mono block amp and sub+enclosure that will fit under the rear seat in my F150?????

Let me know what you think.

What made you decide to go to a new HU? It's nice that Metra addressed the 2013 but the controls look "Metra" if you know what I mean.

want the option to upgrade my entire system instead of being hand cuffed to the 1000$ kicker system. I will get to keep my 4.2 inch display which is good, it does the trick for Sync.

my personal preference is the look of aftermarket over the factory equipment. Keeping the 4.2 inch for sync, adding digital thermostat and a 6 inch DVD receiver should change the way things look quite a bit.

Still too low in the dash for me plus $300 for the kit plus wiring harnesses. Dang!

i got the kit, wiring harness, amplified interface, antenna adapter, and steering wheel control interface for 300$. not bad of a deal. I know someone who deals metra parts and was able to get this through metra.

I agree with u thats its a little low, but thats just personal preference. dont bother me none.

that is the same as the stock touch screen head unit is it not?
The only thing i dont like about that stock unit was the interface that ford uses on it. I cant stand it.

That would look sick with a dvd receiver in it though.

I've never seen the stock touch that Ford has, what is pictured above is what Advent was going to do but they threw the idea out because of stync (not a typo).
