Talking Advent OE Nav for Sony model trucks.

Ok guys,
I recently purchased the Advent OE Nav for my 2012 F150 Platinum Screw. The unit works perfectly with the Sync. However, when you first plug it in there is no sound. No worries though I have a solution. Ok I have a few solutions. 1st you can simply bypass the factory AMP which is located bellow the center console. Doing this will allow for the Advent to control the door speaker but NOT the factory Sub. So you will get music but no bass. Option two, you can bypass the factory AMP into an aftermarket AMP and run everything that way. Now this is where it can get tricky. If you bypass the Sony AMP to an Aftermarket one depending on which one you choose you will have to replace the stock Sub. The reason for this is the stock Sub is a 6 ohm... F you Sony. So if you can find an AMP that will support it you are good to go. Now no matter which option you pick your 'bells and whistles' will still work. I.e. the blinkers, cautions, open door etc. will all still make the appropriate noise. If you have any questions feel free to ask I am more than willing to answer them to the best of my ability. Pics will come when my work schedule dies down.

You don't need to replace the sub just because it is 6 Ohms.

I know that is why I said as long as you can find an AMP that supports it. I personally used this as an excuse to upgrade to a better system.

All car audio amps will support that 6ohm load from that Sony sub.

What do you mean? I have called several professionals about this dilemma. Because my original plan was to just add the new AMP and run the old Sub off of that. However, every pro I talked to said that this was not possible. I am about to buy a Rockwood X Plore 840w 2 Channel Amp. Will this run it? If so you just saved me about $100- $200.

A 6 ohm load will not hurt an amp. It will lower the power output of the amp because it it a larger load(not much) than a 4 ohm load.

I've never really seen a shining recommendation from anyone about a Rockwood amplifier; but anyway, most entry level amplifiers and head units will be rated for a ranged 4 to 8 OHM impedance (meaning anything between 4 & 8.)

Yea I couldn't find much on it but it's new and $20, haha. The guy was sent two for some reason. Anyways, I'm not looking for anything fancy or some blow out my hearing system. I want something that will complement the Sony system as is.

Sorry I didn't see this. So back to my original question will that amp run the stock Sony sub?

Why can't you trigger the factory amp with an aftermarket HU? I've never see the system before, so I'm curious.
