Advent nav system
#201
I was told that this unit is not completely plug n play with the 2010 f150. I was told I have to splice into the red wire of the main module. the accessory wire, and run it to the fuse panel using a tap fuse. it may be a project for me as I am not to handy.

Questions before ordering
First off... huge thanks to all the guys reporting on this. Got a lot of F150 friends...don't know many who are happy with factory HU.
Questions before ordering:
1) I recall reading somewhere that if you didn't turn off the unit before turning off the truck, the Advent would not turn on after the truck was started. Can anyone please confirm or bust this myth?
2) Some sites bash the GPS system as inaccurate for POI... for instance, the restaurant is on the left instead of the right. Anyone have complaints?
3) Anyone using with an iPod? I've got an old ipod touch connected to the "top secret" USB 2 port in the glove box...would like to keep it if possible.
4) Did I misread that the nav system has a several minute start up? I would assume this was just first time..to know where all the satellites are and then much faster from there on.
Thanks... appreciate any and all responses.

I have not had any issues with the unit automatically turning on or off. It does take a few seconds to load and start playing music

I have had no issues and really like the detail it has.
3) Anyone using with an iPod? I've got an old ipod touch connected to the "top secret" USB 2 port in the glove box...would like to keep it if possible.
You have the choice to leave it connected to the SYNC USB 2 or you can connect it to the USB of the Advent. I left my USB drive connected to SYNC on USB 2 so it is hidden in my console. It play just fine through SYNC and the new HU.

The GPS application has to load the first time you use it after any power off cycle. It does take a minute or two. Once loaded it stays that way until you power off the truck.
I have been meaning to ask Walt if it can automatically start each time you start the truck instead of only when you press the NAV button.
Hope this helps

I do not recall having this issue with mine. I will check to make sure.

I like the GPS detail and information. Maybe I am not as critical. On the right or left does not bother me just as long as it gets me there. Which it does. My biggest issue with the GPS is that it does not automatically re-route you if traffic is bad. We have a portable Garmin that does it. Has come in handy many times. In the Advent GPS you can manually re-route yourself though.
3) Anyone using with an iPod? I've got an old ipod touch connected to the "top secret" USB 2 port in the glove box...would like to keep it if possible.
I don't use this.
4) Did I misread that the nav system has a several minute start up?
I would assume this was just first time..to know where all the satellites are and then much faster from there on.
It does take some time to startup. Not several minutes though. It is not much worse than our portable Garmin. Not that big of a deal to me.

I want to confirm, I have a '14 and want this unit. I do not have the 4.3 inch screen, just the basic radio with the two line read out on top. Will this work?
