Can you post where you found this on the website or the actual text?

Default Sat tuner needed?

Just picked up this unit from ebay and have read through this and a few other threads on installation, etc. For those of you that had a factory Sirius head unit...did you need to purchase an additional Sirius tuner unit (SXV200) in order to hook into your factory antenna & enable SiriusXM? From what i've read, the factory tuner is in the factory head unit and you need to purchase another to re-enable your Sirius with the OFO1501.

Yes, you have to buy a SAT tuner.

Perfect, thanks to both you and Tallyman89. I rolled the dice on the newest version, the SXV300v1.. seems like it may have a few new features that the OFO1501 may/not be able to take advantage of. But was only $5 more, so it may be worth not wanting to upgrade later down the road.

I plan to make the swap next week after the tuner arrives. My other question is around the rear camera: I already have the factory rear camera in the rear view mirror and not really interested in splicing into it. I thought I also read a few earlier posts where it was slightly grainy. I'm considering hooking up an auxiliary camera to make use of the screen. Any good suggestions? I'm temping to run a link back to my rear bumper to hook a rear view camper up to my RV.

Default Helpful links/tips

Ok, i finally got my OFO1501 in. Had some issues with getting my remote turn on to work again via my PAC unit, so I ultimately bypassed it and went with the switched power from the Advent HU itself. The only issue is my sub turns on a little faster than the rest of the speakers (it appears to take the Advent a few seconds to turn on the audio output), but it's satisfactory for now.

So my curiosity got my searching for how to update the splash screen myself, which turned up this link. very helpful for how to brew your own splash screen and convert it to a .fll file for your Advent to recognize.

In addition, i saw reference to someone auto-accepting the terms on your nav, but didn't see it posted. In case someone hasn't done this yet, it takes about 5 seconds to pop your microSD card into your pc and add this to your sys.txt file:

[debug]
skip_eula="1"

[interface]
drive_carefully="0"

Thanks again for the help in this thread. This seems like a solid unit and very near-OEM. My only gripe was they couldn't spring a couple of bucks for the Ford clips to attach the new shroud to the dash. I revived my memories of breaking front grille clips as I painstakingly removed the clips from the old shroud.

Do you guys have to adjust your dim on the radio itself at night? I always have to set the screen to dark at nighttime. Didn't know if someone saw where I can make that default when the headlights came on.

Not sure if you're speaking of the bug where the Advent doesn't match your dash. If so, it sounds like they have fixed this in the last firmware update:

http://www.voxxintlcorp.com/downloads/OFO1501/

1: A condition where the backup camera screen shows an incorrect data field.

2: The radio back lights did not match the dash light level; dimmer would shut off back lighting completely if turned all the way down.

3: Video would play when parking brake was not engaged.

I haven't updated mine yet, as i'm not sure what they did with #3. Ie, did they disable the 'demo mode' that others have mentioned? Or was there another loophole that allowed you to play video?
