OR........... has anyone figured out how to get the advent to work with the factory sony sound system?????

I need to find the wiring schematic to see what wires go where.
Check it out. Once you bypass the amp the advent will run the door speakers. In order to have the sub working you need to buy an after market sub. That extra plug that has no home is the data lead. That's what tells the amp to turn on. Unfortunately there is no way to turn on the Sony amp with am aftermarket system. Reason for this is the amp is not just an amp. It is also a computer that regulates the amount of power that goes to the speakers. I have a 2012 platinum with the advent system.

Default Advent Nav and Sony Sound System

Prepare to be amazed! A very good friend and I are about to complete the Advent install in my 2012 FX4 with the factory Sony system. We have successfully got it to work WITH the factory amp and it sounds amazing! Full functionality thru the amp. This is without changing any components. Just the Advent unit and the add on XM tuner. The Advent unit really wakes up the sound system! Stay tuned for more info.

Default Advent Not Compatible with some 2010's Sync

Hi All,

So I called Walt today to order the Advent system for my 2010 F150. Walt, being the professional he is and not wanting to run into an issue later, told me that on some 2010's the steering wheel controls do not function with the Advent. This is something to do with the programming in the truck and Walt has tried everything he can to figure out how to determine if your truck is compatible or not.

I really want this unit and saved up for some time now but, I would hate to purchase and lose the steering wheel controls and Sync with the unit.

Do any of you guys, especially Ford Techs, know why this would be and how I can tell the programming that is within my vehicle?

Schef

Purchased my Advent Navi yesterday from ADCmobile. Looking forward to getting it and installing asap. Has anything change for folks since Walt's installation video?

No changes that I am aware of. I wish they would have made one for the 13/14 with the 4.2 inch screen but that's another story

What year is your truck? I have a 2011 and it took around 4 hours for the total install. Change HU, install SAT radio and GPS antenna. I took my time. It is PNP. I had to remove a plastic clip on the factory SAT antenna connector to connect to the SAT module sent to me. It was loose so I used zip ties to secure it. 2 years later and no issues. I just installed the backup camera and it works great.

2011 XLT

I also purchased the Sirius XM antenna and Ford logo backup camera. If you don't mind asking how exactly did you run the wiring to the rear camera? I haven't received my package yet but I assume it will be self explanatory once I get it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Shadez

Has anyone figured out how to get a/v in with an iphone 5 ? I see they are making cables for the other advent units but I don't think ours has the rca a/v in plugs on the back. It looks like the sync button on the display of ours replaced the a/v in option the other models have on touch screen.

I tapped the center wire of the 7 pin trailer hitch connector for reverse on power to the camera with the red wire. I zip tied the wire harness to other wire bundles along the frame. I found a grommet in the firewall I went through. Others have said there is a grommet under one of the door sills. I grounded the black wire to the body and then connected the yellow RCA to the HU. Per instructions, since I got power at the rear of the truck, I taped off the red wire in the cab.
