Default Adding a sub to 2011 and speaker upgrade

Picked up my 2011 FX4 SC yesterday. Love everything about the truck except the stereo. I have the premium package with Sync, but couldn't find a truck with the Sony Stereo, so I went without figuring I could upgrade. Didn't realize just how much the "stock" speakers suck. It sounds like they are under water even with the treble turned all the way up. Gotta make a change fast.

Has anyone upgraded their speakers yet? If so, what do you recommend? I want to keep the stock mounting positions in the 4 doors, and I won't be adding an amp for the regular speakers. I'm looking for something reasonably priced.

Additionally, I'm going to be adding a JL Audio 8" w3 truck box that I already have, and an Orion amp. I have all the wiring, but need to track down a LOC that is plug and play if it exists.

Like I said, I love everything about the truck, especially Sync, but the stereo sound is laughably bad. Help!

Default Am doing the exact same thing

I just bought a 2011 XLT SCrew and am wanting to keep the factory HU and replace the speakers and add a sub. I contacted an advisor at Crutchfiled. He suggested Polk Audio db571 for the doors. Not top of the line but sound good. From what I found and what he said there are no PNP line out convertors. You have to tap the speaker wires somewhere. I already had a Polk 600.4 amp so will be using that. For simplicity will probably go with a powered sub.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 2011 factory radio? Mainly color scheme for the speakers so I know which wires to tap. Thanks

Westbayou - I am in the same boat, picked up my truck (2011 FX4 SCREW) on Saturday, LOVE the truck but didn't want to wait for one with the Sony, so I am looking to upgrade as well. Saw some other posts, but will keep doing research. Congrats on your new truck...

Go here guys:
http://www.pac-audio.com/productSear...2011&YearId=32

It will have any wiring harness you need to get the LOC you need based on your truck.

I'm surprised that Crutchfield didn't recommend them... I bought mine through them.

The link is in my post above... pad-audio has the correct harness with LOC.
