Default Adapting Kicker PowerStage 4.2" / 8" To Work With Base Radio?

Hey everyone,

I ordered the Kicker PowerStage kit for my '14 SCAB. The kit comes with the 4 kicker speakers, sub/amp, and the additional amp to run the door speakers. Unfortunately, I don't have the 4.2" / 8", but just the base slim analog radio w/ Sync. I knew the kit wouldn't be plug and play for my vehicle, but it was way too good of a deal to pass up on.

I've been told all the plugs are compatible up to the point running the second amp. The plug that goes from amp to the head-unit is going to be different. Kicker has the adapter, but they won't sell it by itself, publicly.

I'm thinking if it's going to be possible to splice into the factory harness and get it to work that? I'm not very familiar with the Ford harnesses as this is my first domestic truck.

I was also thinking of buying a reverse OEM wiring harness to splice into in case I want to ever uninstall it. Does anyone have any input on if this would be possible, along with keeping all my steering wheel controls?

Greatly appreciated!!!

I'm not sure which kit you got. Mine ended with an H. It fit my 13 Scab with your radio without mods. You should still have all the steering wheel controls.

Thanks for the reply. I got the kit specific to the My Ford touch screens, not the basic slim radio. It was too good of a deal to pass up on, that's why I deliberately bought the wrong kit. I'm just going to need to figure out a way to adapt the secondary amp to the back of the head unit. I'm sure it's doable, I just wanted to see if anyone has seen what the basic radio harness looks like to buy a replacement online.

Its too bad Kicker won't sell the adapter. Good luck with the hook-up. I really like the system. It makes music much more enjoyable. Go you mind me asking how much you paid?

That's a very good deal too. I was talking to the vendor (Dealership) on why they are able to sell it for so cheap. He mentioned dealerships will buy them in bulk for aftermarket options for customers. It gives them wiggle room on dropping the price if a customer is on the fence about buying and both parties benefit. Obviously they get them a lot cheaper as a wholesale value than us as a consumer.

What are your thoughts on how it sounds? The lack of bass/treble on the stock speakers just has me shaking my head. I want something that can hit inside the car, not so much that it drowns the vocals. I'm done with the whole hear me from 1/2 mile away setups.

With the sealled sub, the sound pretty much stay in the truck. I've turned mine up pretty loud and stood outside the truck with the windows up, and was barely able to hear the sub. I could hear the door speakers more and they're all dynamatted on both sides. I was driving down the street the other day with a rap tune on and the windows down to see if anyone would notice. I was kinda dissapointed because no one did.

One of the dealers told me that Kicker told Ford they had to buy X number of units for Kicker to make the system, and the reason they are so cheap is Ford has a bunch of them sitting around.
