Default 6.5 Component Guys

What are you guys using to convert the two sizes (6x8 to 6.5). I've used some plates off ebay before but they arent that strong and seem kind of flimsy? Anything out there?

Someone like Lowe's may sell half sheets or smaller.

I always use 3/4 and u don't have to use stock holes because most likely the screws from the stock speaker will not work so use 1 1/4in. Drywall screws. For best results deaden and seal the doors, then put your mdf baffle over the deadner as to not transfer vibration. If you don't deaden it is best to use clay or rubber to decouple the baffle/speaker from the door to eliminate rattle and help sound quality

The Alpine Type R 6.5 components came with plastic adapter plates that fit perfectly and filled the whole void. I am using these and I feel they sound pretty good.

As far as making your own plate, another option is to use hardboard. Also known as masonite.... You can get it 1/8" thick and it is pretty sturdy stuff. You'd want some overlap of the opening to give you some added rigidity, but I've made adapter plates out of this numerous times and never had an issue with them. The trick I've used is to line up at least 2 of the holes on the speakers with existing metal holes on the door to ensure a snug fit to the door.

Well I just did my gf's aveo and I would have pics but I don't feel like taking the panels off anymore. I'm getting ready to do my backup ride idk when but I will take pics and the plastic works too I just like using the wood as it's more solid and easier to decouple from the door itself.
