I am helping my neighbor install a sub and an amp in his truck. He has a 2021 powerboost limited with B&O unleashed system and we will be using a vxi 600/1 amp. I was going to buy the @SoundsGoodStereo connection harness but saw the one that also uses the kicker keyloc to get the system around the sub volume stuff.
With the vxi I could theoretically do the same thing as the keyloc, especially if I use an optical loopback on it (take the signals in and send them out the optical and use the eq bands/delay/all pass filters there, then just loop the optical cable to the optical in and route that to the sub output for sub eq.
I will be using a jl max to measure all signals too. So before the loopback, I will route the signal into the jl max optical in and do all the input eq via that.
Does anyone see any issues here with doing this? I'm pretty sure that is all the kicker keyloc is doing to the signal.
The signal routing would look something like this, for a visual idea.
Well going to go foward with this method after talking to sounds good.
It should work well and if anyone else wants the files and stuff when I am done, just PM me and I'll send it over. It will be a specific file for a jl vxi600/1, but you can use simulation mode to look at it. This will be the input eq stuff as well as output eq stuff.
**Note, these settings are not 100% transferrable to other dsp's. A bunch of dsp's use different definitions for their PEQ q part. Mosconi, helix, jl, minidsp are all different. There is no specific standard for q and how the bell shape looks, only the -3dB point and max frequency**
