Default 2018 XLT SuperCab Audio Build

2018 302A F150, seven speaker, non-Sony nav. Installed the following JL Audio gear:
  • C7 two-way components. Will install the midrange at a later time for a 3 way front stage.
  • (3) 10W6v3 down fire under lifted back seat
  • VXi-800/8i - 8 channel amplifier with built in DSP. Two channels bridged to each mid-bass driver in factory door location. Tweeter and future midrange are on their own channels. No rear speakers.
  • HD1200/1 driving subs. Crossover from other amp’s line out
i started with the subwoofer enclosure. The ends were cut on the cnc router and stacked.

I made a stand to hold the enclosure at the desired 15 degree angle and used a router on a gantry to plane the top down. It works great.

Equipment mounting rack was drawn in CAD (Vectric Aspire in this case) and a test part was cut out of 1/4 mdf on the laser to check fitment.

Final part is cut out of 1/2 PVC. Threaded brass inserts and machine screws are used to attach everything.

Stiffening ribs on the back press against cab wall and firm things up nicely.

Simple cleat holds things in place. It uses the middle seatbelt mounting hole. I removed the middle seatbelt.

I used the mdf test test piece as a template to cut the factory back wall panel.

I used the Parrot T harness and Rockford Fosgate RCA pigtails to route the audio signals from the factory head unit to the DSP amp.

Bracket made of 1/4 abs to mount ANL fuse holder. It attaches to the two factory fuse mounting points.

Machined front door speaker adapters out of two layers of 1/2 pvc that are stacked. Speakers mount to brass threaded inserts.

Final installed photos.

The LMI seat lift is visible here. Yes, there’s still room for rear seat passengers. I rarely have any.

The C7’s, W6’s and VXi system sound amazing.
