Do you know by chance, if the speaker wires for the sub are available behind the stereo somewhere? I'm planning on wiring my female RCA's behind the stereo and running a 6 channel RCA cable from there to the amp in the back. It would be far easier to pick that sub signal up behind the stereo than trying to splice into back there and using a whole new RCA cable.

That I don't know since I haven't messed with behind the factory radio yet. Eventually I suspect I'll have to just to be happy but when I do that I won't use the factory sub output wire any longer. I'll just send the front and rear signals to a 4-channel amp and then be sure to get a 4-channel amp that has output rca's and send them to the sub amp.

Hey op. How does the pioneer sub sound in the truck? Do you have it behind the rear seat and also do you have the 302a package? Need to do something to improve the sound of my 18 xlt by adding a sub but must fit behind the seat and be cheap $$$ finding the kicker hideaway in canada is not cheap.

The pioneer sub has been sounding pretty good to me...granted not nearly as good as my good old Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1 subs did but a big improvement.

I did not try to put the sub behind my seat though. I have mind under the passenger side rear seat in my super crew. Fits perfectly right under that seat and does not stick out.

I started with the stock seven speaker 302A system in my truck. A few months later, I added the factory Kicker subwoofer. Not only was I disappointed with the with it (not enough thump, no ability to adjust the sound/bass level/frequencies, etc...), it sounded to me as if the activation of the system through ForScan cut sound to all the cabin speakers. I pulled it, sold it, and restored the stereo to its factory settings. I then installed what you have (Pioneer TS-SWX2502 sub/GM-D8601 amp), but chose not to power it or pull a signal from the factory sub harness behind the C pillar. I bit the bullet and ran wire (4 gauge from the battery, tapped the rear speaker wires in the B pillars, bass control wire back up to the dash). In the end... couldn't be happier. Not sure what others have experienced with activating the subwoofer option in ForScan and pulling the signal for the amp from that harness, but it didn't give me what I was looking for from the factory Kicker system, so I didn't want to risk it with the Pioneer set up. Just my two cents...

I had issues as well pulling the sub signal from the factory connector. It would hit good for a while and then eventually the amount of bass would fade away to almost nothing. I ended up getting a pioneer 5-channel amp, putting morel speakers in the doors and used Forscan to output RCA line out from the factory radio. Sound so much better now...I just need to finish the job and put the sound dampening material I bought on the doors.

I had the exact same experience as you! With the Kicker Sub output enabled in the ACM, the door speakers all lost volume, and are crossover high so you loose a lot of mid bass. I managed to fix the volume/power issue by running an Alpine KTP-445U, however I cannot get rid of the crossover which sucks. I'm at the point where I might just sell the Kicker Sub and go with something else.

I got a box made by FoxBox for my ext. cab. Tapped into the left and right speaker leads, fed that to a LOC then to the amp. The box doesn't fit flush under the seat but really improved the low end over having them in individual boxes from before.
I see quite a few have signal processors and I'm sure that makes for much cleaner sound, but also adds quite a bit of $$$$ I would think.
