Default 2018 XLT aftermarket sub question

Over the weekend I installed a Pioneer TS-SWX2502 sub and a pioneer class D amp to power it. I went into forscan and enabled the aftermarket subwoofer option but my question is.....does the factory radio system still send full range to the stock speakers even after enabling the subwoofer? I assumed that it would have cut off frequencies say either 120hz or 80hz and lower to the factory speakers once the sub is enabled but it did not. I did some low frequency tests with a frequency generator app on my phone and the door speakers were going bonkers at 40hz.

Thanks for any answers that may be given.

In an XLT with a base radio they will stay full range in the doors. You could put a cap in line with the door speakers if you want or better yet upgrade the door speakers

Use Forscan and select the Kicker Speaker Selection, choose 6 speaker or 7 speaker, super cab or super crew depending on your truck. 7 speaker doesn't include the sub, it's if you truck has a center channel speaker.
This will apply a HPF on the speakers.

So if I choose the 7 speaker which I believe I have, will the sub still function?

So I made the change with forscan setting the 7 speaker option kicker system and it works well for a little while and then out of nowhere it seems to reduce the signal out to the sub. It's the oddest thing...the amp is not hot and not in protection mode. I even just put a new rca end on the sub signal wire as a test and it did the same.

After the volume lowered I even tried pulling the rca cable out of the amp which turned off the amp, plugged it back in and it was still low volume.

Has anyone encountered such an issue?

Thanks.

what wires are you using from the WPT harness? don't use the enable/remote turn on wire from the factory sub connector, the factory ACM will lower sub output if too much current gets pulled on it. Only use that connector for the + and - speaker connections

Is there an unused plug back there somewhere for a sub? I have an 18' XLT 7 speaker also and plan to use Forscan to switch my outputs to flat, low level. I had no idea there was already a sub output somewhere, I was just going to use the amp's summing feature to sum the front and rear signal into the sub.

I had that turn on lead hooked up to my pioneer sub amp but disconnected it last night since it doesn't need it to turn the amp on. The amp turns on detecting a signal over the rca input. It still lowered the sub volume after I did that, then I restored the ACM programming from the backup I made when I initially hooked up forscan, then I re-programmed the aftermarket amp and kicker 7-speaker option. Seemed to work fine today on my way to work so we'll see.

Yes, there is a connector on the driver's side behind the rear pillar by the rear seat. If you pull the door seal away you can peek in the opening using a flashlight and see the connector.

There are write-ups here on the connector you need to get and what pins are used.
