dhmcfadin - great suggestions. The Morels 692 look like a deal. I read the DIYCaraudio forums until my eyes bled so advice from people who have done F150 installs is greatly appreciated. Great information on the DIY forum but the builds seem like they are top end unlimited budget or really low-end.

Tenx82 - thank you for the suggestions, this is what I was looking for. I think in the end I am just not going to have the time to do a good custom A pillar design that these require. I think I will just go with the Morels and run them active.

What's nice about this hobby is you can always upgrade down the road. That's also part of the fun. High fidelity audio is a never ending chase! Enjoy it!

If you decide to upgrade later, check out customspeakerpods.com
He just recently released his A-pillar pods for 2015+ F150s. They will fit a 4" mid and a tweeter up to the size of the SB29 (72mm).

I have the 692 installed and I love them, reach out to HushAudio, He will take care of you, he also has some sounds damping plate to cover the holes in the front and rear doors. They do make a difference, if you get them just make sure you get some speaker gasket tape or something like that for sealing them

I'll throw in some butyl tape for the sealing if you order them from me. I have great prices for the Morels as well. Send me a PM.

diyma.com is really centered around the upper end of car audio products. it's a great place for audiophiles and audio-nutz people to hang out and talk about car audio. it can be intimidating in the beginning but after a little reading you will gain vast amounts of knowledge and learn things you never even knew you did not know about

the gear is usually on the pricey side if you are not an audio-nut but the great thing is they have a very active classifieds section. you can pick up used gear at great prices, and that helps you save cash in the long run. for example i paid $200 for my first set of dynaudio esotec components on there (retails for around $1,000) which eventually led me to the esotar2 series which costs considerably more but are some of the best speakers you can buy for a vehicle. i was able to resell my original used set for $200, so all i lost were the shipping fees. while it's true that used gear does not come with a manufacturer's warranty if you are smart about shopping and research the sellers on the forum first (only buy from active, respected forum users) you will do just fine. it's a very cheap way to get your feet wet with multiple brands of gear and find what you really like. once you really become addicted then you start using specific pieces like the tweets from the old alpine spx-17ref series were my absolute favorites until i heard the dyn 110s.

I have a 2018 XLT with Sync3 radio. If I were to replace the stock speakers with either the Morel 602's, Morel 692s or Kenwood XR-1800s as mentioned above, Whe I install the tweeters do I just use the factory wiring and omit the new crossovers?

Thanks
