They are super efficient, like 93db. They require little power too get loud.

passtim have you ever heard the Focal ISS 690 6x9 components? I'm wondering how the bass is? I am going to sound deaden the doors also and cover the large window regulator access hole with a 1/4' plastic panel and the sound deaden the inner panel.Hopefully that will help the bass some? Thanks for the info.

I went with the focal PS165F for the fronts. I am extremely happy with the sound out of the speakers. I would recommend getting a small amp to power the speakers. you don't want to under power aftermarket speakers. Also use forscan to flatten the EQ curve, it made a huge difference.

Great mid bass As stated a small amp will bring them around but they still sound good with just deck power. A small sub will always help though.

I'm no expert, but I just ordered a Alpine X009-FD2 from a local installer and he recommended JL C1 series 5x7 replacement speakers. About 120.00 a pair then about 10.00 a pair for plug adapters if you want them. I never knew just how cheap our oem speakers are, about 8.00 each Ford cost. Installion don't look to bad from the videos I've seen online.

I can't recommend components for your fronts enough. I was blown away with what upgrading the tweeters did to the overall sound.

I use the C1 6X9 comps and they sound pretty good unamped. At the time, because the Focals were over $200, the JLs with speaker adapters and wiring harness adapters were only $139 at Crutchfield.
You want to go with as big a midbass as you can, and in most installations, a 6X9 will have better midbass than a 5X7 or 6.5-6.75in speaker. Look at my photo album. I believe I have a few pics of them.

Okay this is where I'm at with all of this . I have everything sitting on the bench to do the Infinity install (not opened could easily be sent back) mentioned in the first post. But my old mind keeps changing! I only have $145 invested in the Infinitys but could afford the Focals at $139 for the fronts. I'm the type that likes clarity and highs in my music listening experience (sounds like either brand fits the bill?) but am trying to get as much bass as possible also. I also don't need my music loud (occasionally I turn a good song up a little).Would the Infinity's and Focals have more/better bass than the factory speakers? Of the two Infinity/ Focal which would have the better bass? I'm inclined to go with the Focals as from what I can see they would be the better choice for my taste plus would keep the tweeter location the same along with eliminating the factory tweeter. If I go with the Focal Integration ISS 690 6" x 9" component speakers for the front doors what would be a good speaker (non component) to put in the rear doors to complement the fronts? Suggestions?

Theres a few Youtube videos on door panel removal that include the said Focals and the installers speak highly of them. Personally for the money, on sale, they can't be beat. The rear door don't matter as much. Any decent coax, IE alpine, kenwood, pioneer ect would fill the void nicely. Just look for a 6.75 or kenwood makes a 7 in that works well.
