Oh, so you upgraded your tweeters too. I read in some of the reviews that they didn't sound any better than stock so I really didn't look much into it. What's your take on the tweeters?
Will adding an amp, even like a 4x45 watt smallish amp be interrupted by my start/stop feature?
Right now I'm looking at the Kicker 43CSC6934 6x9 for the front and the Kicker 43CSC654 for the back.

What's funny on Crutchfield's website is that the 6.5 speakers say they dont fit in the back doors, yet the component set does... so upon checkout it throws up a bunch of warnings that you've selected two sets of speakers for the front door.

From what I gather, the HU only puts out 10/15 watts per channel. The Kicker speakers should be a nice upgrade over the stock paper speakers, but the new Kicker speakers will really wake up if an amp is added. It will be fine without one, but they will be underpowered.

That said - how much do the amps and speakers run, and are they really user-installable, or should I get an expert?

Thanks for that! I'm sure the specs for the HU are buried somewhere in the paperwork I have. 10/15W/channel is pretty small (the last few vehicles I've driven have all had 400+W systems with 4-6 channels), so upgrading components and eventually the HU itself is on the list. At the moment, it's far down the list (tint is right on top because it's summer in Texas...)!

I need to do some research to see if there are adapter harnesses to patch a 4 channel amp into the 8" Sync 3 without chopping up the existing harnesses. And ideally, a physically small enough amp that could be tucked behind/under the dash or on the shelf inside the glove box.

Speakers are easy, the biggest hassle is getting the door panels off. Amp shouldn't be too hard if you're comfortable with pulling the HU out of the dash and doing some rewiring.

Amp: Alpine Power Pack KTP-445u
Harness: FOR-11CK
Harness attaches to ACM radio module. FOR-11CK Harness can be cut and Alpine can be wired online with the speaker wires and use the power and ground wires. No cutting or running extra wires.
