Any idea if you can just remove the stock subwoofer without having to remove the entire Sony box? Any tricks to getting just the subwoofer out?

Looking at trying to replace just the subwoofer with a Kicker 8" CompRT.

Just unscrew the sub and remove it. Good luck thou. The stock amp doesn't have enough power for an upgraded sub.

Ugghh...I'm assuming you can't just replace the stock amp in it's existing place? When do you start shipping your subwoofer box kits :-) ???

Pretty simple. Low level inputs have less signal noise than high level. It's a well known fact. The only time that high level (speaker) inputs should be used are when they go into a sound processor where they get changed to low level (rca) signal to go to the amps.
Also some amps say that they will turn on automatically when they sense a signal from a speaker level input but most times a switched power lead gets used anyway because the signal sensing rarely works correctly.
Any good installer with convert the speaker level signals to low level before it goes to the amps.
Anything else you want to know?

Please state why? Been doing this many years.
A high level (speaker) input it worse because it has more noise and you will be amplifying an already amplified signal. Why do you think they make low level converters and why do the signal processors take the speaker level inputs and convert them to low level before going to the amps? Why does an HU add low level outputs for an amp if speaker level would be just as good?

First of all I don't disagree with you. Im just saying for some of us that just want to upgrade the sub it's over kill. I'm just trying to simplify the upgrade. And using the high level inputs sounds good enough for me. I'm not entering a bass competition. If your doing the entire system then yes that's the way to go. But on this page I'm doing is for a simple sub upgrade. That's it. By the way I've been doing this for 24 years.
