I ordered the kit with the new door speakers. This is the only way it can be ordered with the amp for the doors. I did not attempt to use the speakers as I believe they are different sizes now. The sound is a major improvement. It seemed to be more of a difference in my 14 but I also replaced the door speakers in that one. I am going to by some aftermarket speakers in the near future. But really it was a well spent $375. Beau from Rogel Ford was helpful today and when I ordered. Had a few questions that he took the time to answer over the phone.

But worth the $375 you'd say? Does the sub hit fairly hard and do you retain all the audio control in the display (bass, treble, balance, fade etc..)? I'm thinking about buying the 2014 kit and at least trying to use the front speakers. I know they're 6x8 and the 2015 uses 6x9, but I'm betting I can make them work.

Yes, you keep all the sound controlls. Nothing is Lost, only Gained!

Did you ever figure out a way to mount the sub in the 2015 screw? Does everything just plug and play or were there modifications you had to do to make it work? Is the only difference on the amp between this and the 2015 kit the bracket? Could we get the dimensions on the 2015 bracket and fabricate one for retrofits?

The Kicker harness plugged into the factory CD player. I modified the ground location for the sub box and had to lengthen the power cable to the sub box. As far as mounting the sub, I used Industrial Velcro on the bottom of the box for now. I have not had any extra time to mess with it. It has not moved however. I really did not want to drill holes in the floor to bolt it down.

I've got a 501A package w/Nav 2015 and I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this today after an aborted speaker install over the weekend. I thought I was slick and found speaker adapters that would work from the 2011+ Explorer. Unfortunately they ended up being too thick. For about the same money it looks like this is a much better improvement without ripping into everything in the doors. I'm debating doing this and just selling the 6x8's that come with the kit. I can't believe that there isn't a company that sells speaker adapters yet for the 2015's.

Any updates on the system? Still happy with how it went?

Could something like this be adapted to work?

Nope. Not enough plastic above and below the speaker. The mounting holes in our truck basically form a square around the speaker, and the factory speakers sit out from the mount by about 1" exactly. Only option is to gut the factor speakers at the moment to create a mount.

What the heck, I just ordered one of these kits to give it a shot. Can't be any worse than hacking apart the stock speakers...

Yes for $7 why not try.

Oh, I should clarify, I ordered one of the Kicker kits for $375. That plastic adapter you linked absolutely won't work. Save your $7.
