Default 2013 Sync update issue

Sync will not recognize USB device (ipod). Has been working fine for the last year and a half but now will not recognize. Have tried three different cables so that is not the problem. Have the 4.2 inch screen with basic Sync.

Went to the Ford update page and it says I am due an update. Try to download the update and system error all day long pops up. It won't stay up long enough to hit the contact us link.

Any ideas on how to make the biotch recognize my music again? I would rip it out and go aftermarket but alas there is no good way to do that either. You would think that on a fairly late model F150, best selling truck for 35 years running, would have an aftermarket that would allow installing a Kenwood or Alpine or something I can manually control without having to talk to a female off somewhere in the cloud. I am capable of finding my own song or playlist without any help if she would only let me. Not one of Ford's better ideas.

Thanks for any help.

I don't know what computer you use but I know the download works best with Windows. Also you have a few options to replace the HU with an aftermarket. Here is a good start.

I'm having the same problems. Windows 10, Mozilla Firefox and the edge browser both did the same thing as you describe.

Thanks Ed. That clears some things up. This is my first Ford product and I really like the truck, especially the room in the back seat. You can actually put grownups back there.

This talking to the radio though just is not working.

@mophead have you tried doing a master reset on the truck radio? I'm not sure what radio you have but you should be able to find it in the settings menu of the radio.

Master reset did not fix it.

Alpine has an aftermarket option but it's pricy. Bluetooth Audio works for me about %95 of the time. Sync line in or USB never works. I've stopped trying to use those two options. Sounds like this My Ford sync system whatever has a lot of issues.
