I'm listening. Will this option eliminate the progressive bass loss as the volume is turned up? Awful stereo feature...

I'm far from an expert..maybe others can chime in...The sony sub is designed to roll off some of the bass at higher volume. .not sure why..from what I've read in the forum a very good sounding option is to upgrade the sony speakers and add the mono amp/small sub.. Some have poly stuffed the sony sub and had good results. .others have not..

If you install a good amp and sub you won't notice any bass rolloff

I installed a LOC off the rear passenger speaker wires (hid it in the mid pillar plastics) and a stand alone gain controller today. Wired the remote line off tbe #38 fuse in the passenger side fuse panel (time delayed accessories fuse so it will turn off once door is opened after ignition is shut off like the rest of thr factory stereo does.)

Rear passenger speaker wires exposed ready for LOC install. Roomy location for a LOC.

When replacing the sony sub. All you have to do is install a high input level amp after the small sony amp. Thats its. everything else stays stock and it sound great.

sorry to bring up a dead thread, but I just did this recently using my Sony sub wiring harness and I'm getting some awful crackling at random times has anyone else has this problem? I think it has something to do with the stock Sony amp but I don't know. Ran the Sony wires into a scosh LOC then ran that into my JL jx500-1d into 2 JL 10w0s wired at 2 ohms.

Thanks for any advice.

Did you get crackling with just the stcok amp? If not then check your connections on the LOC and from the new amp to the new subs.

i didn't get any crackling with a different head unit, so I'm assuming the stock amp is the issue. Problem occurred before and after LOC install, I was using high level Inputs before the LOC still problem with both I'm thinking I need to tap rear door speakers

So, I have a 2013 FX4 super crew with the Sony "premium" stereo. I notice that as I turn up the volume the sub gets progressively less potent. Thanks Ford....

I am looking to replace the amp/sub with an aftermarket combo.

Is there anything I need to be aware of before hand?
Processor needed?
Any tricks to make it work properly without the bass going empty as I turn up the volume?

If I am oblivious to an important question please feel free to input your opinion. However, do a dummy a favor and keep it simple.

thank you

Brandon
I have the same truck and hated the system. Recently I replaced the door speakers with JL Audio C2-570 speakers and added the JL JD-400 amplifier. Much more power and volume was needed. Didn't change the subwoofer or the head unit. Things are definitely better now.
