Done! I used a Clarion XC1410, the parrot harness from the Fiesta, an add a fuse into fuse 38 in the passenger panel fuse box for the remote turn on (blue wire), and a whole lot of heat shrinking butt connectors. Works great and is LOUD. Now to plan the sub...

A few tips:
- The panels scratch very easily. I have the brown/tan multitone interior and the passenger air bag panel scratched the panel below it pretty bad while I was working. OOPS.
- The three screws to release the air bag assembly are 10 mm and pretty obvious. I think the metra says three 8mm screws and I was searching for them when I realized it was these three bigger ones.
- The clarion is a tad bit longer than the alpine if I remember and fits diagonally, not across like the alpine is supposed to. I left the wires really long just in case and everything still fits fine. Snug.
- There are two extra screws on the sync drawer/usb plug thing, where the door opens, that have to be removed. I don't think anyone mentioned these at all.
- Not sure if it's easy to remove or not but working around the driver's side vent panel is probably the hardest part as you have to gently bend the panel to get to the upper left screw.
- I could not find a low profile mini fuse add in, so went with a standard mini fuse add-in. It fits, but won't allow the cover to be put back on the fuse panel.

I took some pictures but it's all really similar to what has been posted so I won't bother unless someone wants them. Let me know if anyone has specific questions.

Thanks for all the advice and really good discussion from everyone!

Here are some pictures that might help others:

Lower screw locations to remove, two on each side.

Back of factory unit. Plug on left is where new harness goes.

Comparison of factory plug into stereo (top) and parrot harness plug (bottom)

Clarion XC1410 and Parrot FOR-11CK harness. Right side of harness where red wire is gets removed and is where the amp is wired in. All wires are clearly marked/labeled!

Thanks all for getting this figured out. I ordered the parts for mine. I too have been waiting a year with lots stuff ready to install because I wanted to just plug and play. Can't wait! I was just looking at my boxes in the garage today.

Just an FYI guys, iDatalink has a dash kit in production and it looks pretty good. It will work with either the Alpine X008U or any other double din unit.

I was going to have to order a PIN tool to repin the metra connectors; so instead I just ordered the Parrot harness...was considering doing a return on the metra harnesses, don't know if I'll get around to doing the RMA, so if anyone is interested 2*70-5524 & 1*71-5524, shoot me a PM. I'm not looking to make any money, just break even. Packages have been opened, but harnesses haven't been used or connected in any way.

I'm in the DMV (zip 25401) area, if anyone local is specifically interested.

Someone else asked for a pic of the clarion and parrot harness wired up but it looks like I forgot to take one of it. Alternatively here is an annotated pic of the harness that should help. The red power wire from the amp to the yellow power wire in the harness were the only wires that don't match (plus the blue turn on wired to fuse 38).

This exactly. I installed mine today, Parrot harness with KTP-445u, I also spliced into the the +12V on the harness to feed the remote turn-on on the amp. May not have been needed with using speaker inputs, but, it was only another 30 seconds of soldering, so why not. Mine sounds fantastic, powering two sets of Infinity Reference 6832cf. My only complaint is that amping the Infinitys really shows the lack of low-end in the system, so I see either the Crutchfield Sound Ordnance mini-sub or the Kicker Soundgate sub in my near future.

As a word of advice, and it's been said before, the gains can/need to be set to min, I had mine set at roughly ~9:00 on the dial to start, and even that was too much.

Thanks again to all who experimented/researched to find what turned out to be a very elegant and easy solution for amping our speakers.

Just ordered every thing today. I plan on putting a amp kit in. What do I do with the yellow wire from the harness? Since I am not wiring it to the amp. I am just wondering, I am sure I will figure it out when it gets here. Just trying to be proactive.

I'm assuming you mean you're running to a normal sized amp, with constant 12V coming off the battery, in that case you won't do anything with the hot wire or the ground on the harness, just seal em off.
