Default 2012 F150 SuperCrew Lariat System info

Okay, so I’ve toyed around the idea of installing a sub/amp in my truck since the day I got it. My old truck had factory sub, and I miss the bass(I’m 39 and love the deep bass, Bass Mekanix of the 90’s was/is my favorite CD’s I ever owned lol). I have no intention of replacing stock HU.

All came to reality today when my brother handed me a brand new Kicker CXA600.1 about an hour ago for a late birthday gift. So I have an amp, and nothing to use it with 😡!!!

What I am looking at is following to add with it:

Sub

Wiring

I’m not sure if I’ll need the pac aoem frd24 or not, so that’s what I really need to know. I’ve done many stereo system installs, but that was in the 90’s when a quick HU swap and no hassle with all the electronics of today’s cars.

If the pac aoem frd24 is necessary, then I’m only out about $250 for a sub installed in my truck, and will deal with all the other speakers in the truck after this part is finished. Thanks in advance.

Would also be interested in seeing recommendations for subs and box setup. Dual 12’s isn’t out of the question.

That sub and enclosure will only get you so much bass and limited useful frequency range. The price is great but what is your expectation? Do you want to shake mirrors/windows, want little more bass, love rap/R&B? We need more info to help you make a decision. Shallow subs hit a wall at a certain volume so I'm not sure if that wall will please you or not. That wall is often very short if you get my drift. I'm currently testing two full sized 8" subs in my truck and they hit very hard, low, and very very clean. The wall on that limit is considerably higher than most shallows if not all shallows that I've tested. My setup requires a seat lift and full sized under the rear seat enclosure though. If you want the space and cost savings then go with the shallow.

Im not looking to shatter windows at all, wife would get mad! I listen to everything, key on hip hop/rap, heavy metal, classic rock, country. Just looking really to get the best bass I can out of the truck with what I’ve already got to start with and maximize the amp output best I can. Don’t really want to have to do any seat raising. I’m open to all suggestions.

I don't know if I would buy that kicker. I don't think it is worth the extra compared to the Pioneer.
I have the 10" version of this in my wife's SUV. Not window rattling but she actually asked me to turn it down. The 12" would be able to get louder than that too. The 10" version is $99 so you could get two of them which would put out A LOT!

Or you could pick up one of these:
https://stereointegrity.com/product/...-12-subwoofer/
and build your own box

Or one of these which would fit about perfectly under just one seat. I have the 10" version in my truck and it fits nicely under just the center section of the rear seat.

I would also go with this amp wire kit. It is OFC instead of CCA wire. Or one of the SKAR amp kits from Hush which is OFC as well.

Ditto. It seems that Ford severely limited the space under the rear seats in later generation trucks.

I had to bump my seat an inch, make 1" extensions for my box and 1/2" spacer rings for the subs.

Subs were marked for being 5.08" depth and box as 5-1/8".

I did a write up on those Pioneer shallow 10 with enclosure not that long ago that you should look into. They perform pretty amazingly for the price. I believe I only paid around $100 on Amazon at the time. It's not a bad option for people on a budget. I prefer them over the Kicker that you posted. So that along with a Skar amp and amp wiring kit should keep you close to your budget. Look into the Skar SK-M5001D.

Thanks. I have the Kicker 600.1 amp already(as stated in my OP), that was given to me. So I’m working around that in the subs that I do buy.

Still unsure about the “pac aoem frd24”. But from further reading it looks like it’s a necessity. Have the basic 6 disc with Sync, no Nav/screen.
