2010 F150 Stereo/Sub System Install Help???
Hey guys, first time using/posting on this site. I was looking to upgrade my current stock stereo system, but I'm pretty unfit when it comes to the installation process. I already have the speakers, sub and amps in mind that I would like to purchase (after multiple times speaking with a Crutchfield Rep/Assistant), but I don't want it to lay around the house until I find someone to install it. I'm assuming that a local car audio shop will overcharge just for the install, but I haven't visited any to ask (which I probably should).
I was just looking to see if there is anyone on the site that lives in Southeastern Michigan that would be able to assist me or do the install for me, for money of course. If not, I guess I'll see what I can do.
Thanks!
Chris

Lol, well thanks. I actually did start ordering. I purchased and installed 4 Pioneer TS-A6874R 6" x 8" 3-way Speakers to replace my stock, which was pretty easy with the adapter they came with. Already sounds better. I also got a single 10" sub box from www.supercrewsound.com that is on it's way, along with a JL Audio 10W1v2-4 10" subwoofer. They should be here in a couple days. As for the amp, I am looking at an Alpine MRX-V60 5-channel to power everything. Any comments, suggestions or advice?

Are you keeping the factory head unit? I'm pretty sure id like to update my 2009 2 door regular cab (i dont have the ruck yet) also with speakers and a sub but Id like like to keep all of the same functionallity in the truck.

Oh just a heads up. If you want to replace the factory HU you can still keep SYNC, Bluetooth, and Steering Wheel Conrol. PAC sells a SYNC harness that also retains bluetooth (but don't buy it from them, way cheaper elsewhere). If you go this route I HIGHLY recommend getting the Steering Wheel Control harness made by PAC as well.
How do I know? At first I ordered the one made by Metra and it wasn't compatible with the Sync retention harness. After getting it all installed though, it works seamlessly. The only thing I lost was the factory HU's 'engine noise volume compensation', and time display on Sync screen (since it is now displayed on the Aftermarket HU.)

@PondJmper: Thanks for the info. I'm just going to stick with the factory HU. Just to keep to original uniform look.
As for an update, I have everything I need for the install, just waiting on the Amp in the mail. I went with the Alpine MRX V-60. The sub box from www.supercrewsound.com was awesome. Quick shipping and fit perfectly under the back seat. Doesn't stick out at all. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a sub box for your truck!
I have an install scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8. Unfortunately I have to get it done through Car Tunes. One of Metro Detroit's "Car Stereo Specialists," with a questionable reputation. Nonetheless, it needs to be done and they seem to be the best of the possible choices.
My question now is regarding a sound processor? Do I need one? Will I get better quality sound out of my speakers with the factory HU? Are there cheap ones available that do the job? I just don't really know too much about what's needed for the best sound quality.

Yes and it sounds awesome!!! I ended up purchasing the AudioControl LC2i line output converter and I couldn't be happier. The JL Audio 10W1v2-4 is perfect for the truck. I'll have to post up some pics when I get a chance.
