When I added the adapter harness and installed the head unit, there was only a switched positive. The factory head unit had 2 connectors and the JVC KW-XR610 2 DIN CD Receiver only has one harness. I didn't check the other harness that plugged into the factory head unit. The factory unit had a clock that displayed even when the truck ignition key was removed. The new unit does not have that clock when the key is removed, only when the ignition is switched on. I am thinking there must be a batt + in that other harness. I do wonder what that harness is for.
As far as multiple fuses, yeah that can be cool. JVC states that the receiver should receive power even with the ignition switched off.
Otherwise the easiest thing to do was to splice into the switched + on the harness.

What about going OEM to OEM? I have an 04 (new style) and the radio has been stealing CD's and behaving strangely. I have the OEM radio out of an 08, can I swap them out without any further wiring?

As long as they are for the same level of stereo. If you have an Audiophile, you'll need one from an Audiophile. If not, you need one that is not audiophile. Otherwise they should swap out fine.

With a little wiring, you can also get the line in.

Default Replacing factory head

Need more help....What's the trick to getting the plastics off that are around the radio? Seems like the cigarrette lighter might be holding it up. I don't want to break anything.

Can't tell by your signature what kind of truck you have but I know with mine 06 Lariat, there was one corner was hard to release but I put some pressure around that corner without putting too much and it finally pop out.

Just pops off, then you need to disconnect the connectors. I start at the top of the ashtray opening and work up.

Okay, so I installed the 08' radio in my 04. New radio is Audiophile (2008 6CD/MP3/am/fm), old one was not (2004 tape/cd/am/fm). I only had the bigger connector on the back of the original one, and used only that. Everything seems to be working just fine (I don't have a sub). I did read somewhere that I may lose my lows because the audiophile is designed to use a sub. Is that true? Also, what other issues can arise from using an audiophile unit in a non-audiophile truck?

I used the OEM plug, and got an antenna adapter from a local audio shop ($3).

Only issue is that you lost your lows below 80 hz.
