Maybe this has been asked already. Where have people tapped their LOC's to in an 08 Screw F150? I found this plug under my rear seat on the drivers side. I assumed it was the factory amp harness?
After tapping in to the orange and red wires I was not receiving a signal. Spoke with a car stereo guy and he instructed me to tap in to the rear speaker wire inside the drivers side rear door via the B pillar near the seat belt. (This is also the guy who instructed me to tap in to the harness pictured above.)
Was hoping to get some info from people who have done this with success and maybe even a photo of the wires they tapped in to?
Yes, it is for the factory Sub-woofer.
I removed the factory amp/sub-woofer from my 2004 SCAB. I'd planned on re-using that plug until I learned from one of the audio gurus here that the switch signal out of the 5th wire is not 12volts. It is some odd voltage like 5 volts. Since I was mounting an after market powered sub-woofer, I abandoned this plug you found). I had to run RCA wiring to that unit anyway and so I found a 12 volt control wire off of the head unit to switch on the sub-woofer.

All I really want is to somehow hook up my Sandisk ClipJam which I use for hiking, on which I have downloaded numerous podcasts and audiobooks, so I can listen to these on long drives.

My hope is to use an adapter plug to just plug all of the wiring into the existing wiring system, and use the factory speakers for a short time, until I upgrade them. Down the road, I am going to add an under the rear seat subwoofer, and feed it off of the dedicated RCA Pre-out from the head unit.
Do any of you car stereo gurus see any potential probems? I don't have to worry about steering wheel controls etc. I know that I could upgrade the wiring for the door speakers, but as it sits right now I don't see any real reason to do that.

Piece of cake. Just get the correct dash kit and wiring harness for your year of truck.
I didn't think there would be an issue, but I haven't messed around with car stereo stuff in 20+ years, so wasn't sure if using existing wiring would be a problem or not.
Still awaiting an answer from sonic electronix as to whether or not that unit has a low pass cut off for the door speakers....when I add subs, I want to be able to attenuate everything below 120 or so to the door speakers.

I ended up going with that head unit......it does in fact have high pass (for the subs) as well as low pass for the door speakers. Could I use some more power to the door speakers? Yes.....it is rated at 45 watts RMS per channel...not ear splitting power, but more than enough to drown out an ambulance that may be following.
I ended up going with a full under the rear seat box with two tens, and a single channel 400 watt amp. I also added a subwoofer control.....at about 60 percent, the rear view mirror vibrates..........aside from being down a bit to the doors, I am VERY happy!!
Installing a pair of Focal ISS 570 components in my front doors and they have the integrated crossovers.
Is the best way to wire the tweeter to the mid-woofer with a butt connector which will then connect to the factory wiring via Metra 72-5600?

Looks like you get 4 pieces of wire for the speakers. 2 for the woofer and 2 for the tweeter. They have caps in line to limit the frequencies going to the speakers. I would think they would both connect to the factory wire and then to separate speakers. Do you have factory tweeters you are replacing?
