Simple question I have: why does it sound like I'm only getting music from the sub under the seat and nothing from the door speakers? I was messing with the recently bought truck and the EQ on the head unit when I realized only the sub was playing music and I'm pretty sure I couldn't hear anything from the doors? There are kickers in all four doors. Music sounds muffled even after adjusting and it sounds like it's coming from under the back seat only.

I went and discovered that essentially my sub is louder than my door speakers. On low volume I get heavy bass and the sub is playing louder than my doors. I could barely hear some of the door speakers on volume 1 or 2 when my ear was against it but the sub was loud. Doesn't make sense. When I used the fade/balance and set it to the front speakers, they were finally audible with a higher volume but they sounded empty and crappy for kicker speakers. I pulled the trim and found the head unit has an adapter harness pig tailed to the stock Ford harness with electrical tape covering it. Could it just be a bad connection causing these issues?

Is this the correct OEM plug? It says it's compatible with the 2004 F150 at most, and I have the 2005. http://www.installer.com/item/displa...p?it=71-5520-1

Hopefully you already have the larger one for your door speakers and power.
You need this smaller harness harness for the sub. (Both harnesses cost about the same as just the smaller one)
https://www.amazon.com/Metra-70-5521...8+pin+sub+plug
And this to eliminate the turn on thump

Kinda. It is all the harnesses but male instead of female.

Which blue wire>>>
Hi guys thanks again for the ton of useful info I've gotten one question,I'm fixing up a 07 King Ranch and found a used Kenwood nav head unit on kijiji...it came with a mess of a harness so I ordered the correct one with sub to clean it all up and make solder connections...the green electrical tape irks me lol. So now where do I connect the 2 blue wires on the small sub plug? they both have " amp turn on 12v+ " on them sorry if this has been answered but I did try and search all these pages.
Thanks In advance

Since you're in the process of connecting that head unit, could you take a picture of you truck's OEM subwoofer plug and send it to me? I'm re-wiring the connector on mine and I need to see which pins and the order the four colored wires go into the connector. It would help a great deal since I'm using a non Ford connector!
