16 gauge would be fine for 150 RMS. I dont blame you though for wanting to change out the factory wiring. If its 18 gauge it might be alright but running dedicated 16 gauge to all your speakers would be ideal. Itll take you some more time but its the better way.

You won't hear an audible difference. There isn't anything to gain other than perceived peace of mind. Just know you are spending money that doesn't buy you anything other than piece of mind.

As someone else mentioned, you won't generate heat or resistance using the stock wire because the wire runs are so short.

Replacing the wiring is about as excessive as running 150X4 to the components. Remember, this is still a Factory head unit, through a factory dsp, through a re-leveling process (dsp or LOC), to an amp, to the speakers. It's not a pure signal - head unit straight to amp - that the SQ guys really strive for.

I'm running 100X4 to just my front stage, and have to turn the gain all the way down on my amp, and still turn the signal down in the DSP because 1) I don't want to introduce any static/noise, and 2 - it already gets REALLY REALLY loud.

This isn't my first rodeo, to each his own. I've done several F150 builds, Sony and non. For the cost of the wire and the amount of time it takes me, it is worth it. I believe there is something to gain off of good quality wire. And I've tuned with this amount of power before, I have yet to have any issues with noise in the 09-14 trucks - not saying it won't be an issue in the 15's. Point being, this is a field where there are MANY differing opinions about every aspect of car audio - no need to try to beat it into someone that something they are doing is unecessary as if you are going to suddenly change their minds (think people who use capacitors) - I do my own research and have my own resources who have been in car audio for 20 years (not people selling me things lol)....now if this speaker wire was costing me a lot of money now I'd see your point, but $40 for some knu wire - let's let the argument die lol.

Thanks for the wiring diagram by the way, I assumed they have not changed the scheme since 09-14 models.

More power isnt necessarily about being loud. Hell the stock system could deafen you with some Disturbed cranked to the max. It would sound awful but be plenty loud. High wattage is like torque in sound quality, you can really never have too much. A 150x4 amp isnt making 150 watts all the time just like a 700 ft/lb diesel isnt making that much torque all the time. Yeah you dont need a ton of power to make screeching guitars sound loud but you do need a ton of power to reproduce the intricate details like the pluck of an acoustic guitar or the Diana Krall's breath. Music like that, the more power the better and itll mean better dynamics and more realism.

The thing with equipment like a LOC youre exactly right on. Its just taking the crap, EQ'd signal from the head unit, converting it to low level output and sending it downstream. Something like the Bit Ten, CleanSweep or the new Fix, they take the crap signal and re-EQ it to where its flat from 20-20KHz then up the voltage and send it downstream. Still not ideal but close enough as makes no difference and good enough that when paired with quality amps and speakers in a proper install, you can have a great sounding system.
