Nope, I did not run new wires to the speaker locations in the doors. I basically extended the oem speaker wires from their termination point at the factory amp to the rear wall so I could mount the amp there and still use the factory wiring to the doors.

The other 8 count wire bundle was used to extend the source coming from the factory amp wiring to the rear wall cleansweep location....

Doing it this way creates a "ring" of sort, {factory amp/source ->cleansweep -> aftermarket amp -> speakers(destination)}

Pauli18c, if you have the sony system then you will need to splice at the factory amp under the center console. the headunit is cambus wiring to that oem amp device and doesn't offer any speaker wire terminations to access.

I agree that the cleansweep making the system flat, but to me it just created a clean flat floor so that I could use my eq to build the sound spectrum the way I liked it instead of starting with a Ford "tweaked" curve tailored to their speaker designs.

good video to watch using an analyzer and showing factory vs aftermarket

Thanks for the response. After having this setup for a while, do you still think the SSI is needed or actually doing anything beneficial?

I already ran all new door speaker wire through the lovely molex connectors to the back wall.
I had the sony stereo, non nav, no factory sub. So looks like I'll be pulling the center console off

Well, I know with the sony system the front tweeter/midrange speakers are not full range signal coming off that oem amp which is why the ssi is required to take those fragmented frequency channels and give 4 total full range signal outputs vs not using it and only having the rear speakers to rely on for full frequency.

You may be right and the ssi isn't really going to benefit you're setup. It was a must for the sony to get keep all the other bells and whistles working correctly with full sound. I ran the truck without the ssi/dsp for a month and I was missing ALOT of sound from the spectrum.

But yup, looks like you are center dash bound good luck with your setup!
