Cool time for some speakers :)

Hey. I don't know a whole lot about stereos and speakers so I figured I'd seek some help

I just finished putting a new motor in my truck, and it's running great so now I want to upgrade the stereo. I'm not trying to get it to "BOOM" and rattle glass, that's not my thing, don't be offended if that's what you have!! But looking for some nice sounding speakers that can get loud while still sounding nice, and adding some bass. I am looking to add a sub or two to have some very clean deep bass, but like I said not trying to rattle the windows.

I have seen the JL stealthbox that I can put in my center console but read that most people think it's overpriced for the sub that it comes with.

So new head unit? new door speakers? amp? sub? Help me out please!

Thanks,
Corey.

Corey ..

That is an open ended question the possibilities are endless. But here I go

Alpine Head Unit
Infinity Kappas x 4 if Screw
Rockford Fosgate Amps
ID Max Subs
and some KnuKonceptz wire to tie it all together

Oh and case you wanna know why I have this exact same stuff going into my 2010 LARIAT minus the Alpine.. Come on UPS

I know there are tons of options to go with, that's why I am asking for some kind of direction. I didn't know if there were certain industry standards for good speakers or anything.

Should I hook up an amp to my door speakers?? and how many/what size subs would you recommend. If I can turn them down real low I wouldn't mind going big so I at least have the option of a LOT or a little bass

2002 f150 extended cab. budget = $2,000 i guess. Very mechanical and good with my hands. Couldn't build my own box/enclosure, but I'll be able to install everything myself.

Oh yeah, I don't want to lose any space in the truck, I want the back seat to be fully usable. so under the rear seat, or in the center console for the sub is the only option. So far I found a 2x 10" sub box that goes under the rear seat that I've been looking at, but let me know what you recommend.

thanks

I used crutchfield only to find the size of my door speakers, I pieced my system together by searching forums and hearing what people had, and what kind of music they listened to. I built my system: pioneer avh-p3300 head unit, 2x 10" shallow mount kicker vt subs, 4x Infiniti kappa doors, pioneer 600w rms amp, under seat box (04-08 screw), wires, ect. for just a tad over $1k shipped, that’s easily knocking at the door $2k before shipping at crutchfield. I just used google shopping and ebay, then found the cheapest price from a reputable dealer. I am guessing you’re looking for the same sound quality that I am, I listen to mostly rock, so not too bassy but have plenty of a punch. For subs, look at polk mm series their normal (not shallow mount) speakers but have a 5 1/4" mounting depth due to the type of magnet they use, but they’re a good price and they get great reviews, I would have used them but they won’t have enough mounting depth in my box, but if Im not mistaken the 02 model can fit a much deeper box. I have heard the infiniti speakers do need a amp to push them (I already had one so that’s not included in the price of my system), without one they are reviewed to be sounding too high and lacking the mid and bass to complete a good sound, but with a amp their supposed to be the best short of outrageously expensive competition speakers. Given I have not installed my system because I am stuck in the desert for a few more days until I get to come home, but I can update you on sound quality if you'd like. There’s my .02 good luck!
