Default can't decide...930BT vs Z130BT

I've searched through this section and have narrowed my list down to two. i have the basic stereo which didn't sound good at all until i replaced the door speakers with Rockford Fosgates. And since i'd really like a backup camera & integrated navigation, I'm going to kill two birds with one stone and get a whole new unit. i found a local place that's going to treat me pretty well and install everything plus remote start for a decent price. i'm a little hesitant to do it all myself and i want a local warranty in case something doesn't work.

obviously the Z130 is a bigger and better unit, but i'm a little hesitant to use a 1st year unit and have read this unit has had some issues. on the other hand, the 930BT seems to be a good unit and will cost me about $300 less...which is about the cost of my remote start. do any of you guys have real-world experience with either of these two units? I'm leaning toward the 930BT, but would like to hear some feedback before i make my decision.

they also tell me that my system will sound MUCH better with JL Audio door speakers. i could tell a huge improvement with my RF's over my factory speakers, but he said the extra power will warrant a better speaker and the JL's would be the way to go. if this holds water, i'll probably sell my four 4 week old Rockford Fosgates if anyone is interested. I would take $120 shipped (CONUS) for all four of them...which is about 75% of what i paid. Unless i hear that my RF's will sound almost as good.

any feedback would be greatly appreciated! if anyone is interested in the RF's shoot me a pm. i'm not 100% if i'm going to sell them, but if a guy is willing to buy them (to help cover the cost of the JL's), that could sway my decision.

The X-920BT is essentially the same unit as the 930. I have no complaints. The bluetooth works very well, it sounds good and the maps are easy to read.

Question for you. I also just replaced my 4 door speakers with some nice Infinity Kappas that have been recommended on here. I'm honestly not hearing the difference I thought I would. The bass is still just about non-existant. Granted they are more clear but I'm just not seeing the improvement everyone has raved about. Are you hearing a true difference in bass?

I installed a factory sub at the same time so I can't really help you with that question...sorry.

yes, i'm hearing additional volume and bass with my RF's. In fact, i would say an addional 20-30% volume with deeper sound. If i would've known i would be replacing the HU so quickly, i wouldn't have upgraded them when i did. my stock HU didn't have the oomph and these RF's are (IMO) perfect for a stock HU. no sense of spending the extra scratch if you can't benefit...

Did you replace anything other than the speakers? I used wiring harnesses for each speaker but other than that, nothing else. I'd say there's barely a noticeable difference in bass. I can turn them up louder without distortion but I'm not getting more volume at lower levels.

no sir, just the speakers. can you visit a best buy and hear them for yourself? i did that and these RF's blew away several other (more expensive) brands. Still, the dude said the upgrade from RF's to JL's will be almost as noticable (with an aftermarket HU). For the money, the RF's can't be beat.

I just installed my Infinity's last week. I did some research comparing them to a set of RFs and JLs. For similar cost to the RFs and less than the JLs, my Infinity's have way higher average watts and 3x the max watts. They also have a much higher db level than either of those speakers. Makes me think the stock unit just doesn't have enough punch to power them. I did read about a break in period but I doubt it'll make that big of a difference.

You're never going to achieve the bass you are looking for by using 6x8 speakers. You probably won't ever get the bass you want from speakers in general, and you will more than likely want to integrate a subwoofer into your system. You can install 5 1/4" speakers maybe even 6 1/2"s to get nice deep mids. However for really nice lows a shallow 10-12" subwoofer running about 250w RMS to 300w will be more than enough I'm guessing. However are you looking for earth shattering noise or nice deep tight bass (that's what she said)?

Your aftermarket HU will already be pushing more RMS power than your stock headunit. You will notice a difference just by integrating the aftermarket HU.
