I have an 04 regular cab, the basic 4 speaker system. Swapped out the stocks for 4 (one in each door) Kicker KS680's (normal KS series, just 6x8's) and I love them. I hear their amps aren't great, but I've never had one; overall very pleased with the speakers though. They have the built in woofers giving a nice crisp bass without the drone of a small cheap sub and the mid and treble levels sound great. I also eventually swapped out my head unit for one from JVC that helped a little with the clarity (overall better radio) but definitely recommend looking at the Kickers.

Using low powered sources, the tonal differences between different coaxial speakers are fairly insignificant. The most important factor to me in choosing a low powered (stock or aftermarket head unit on board amp) door speaker is the speaker's sensitivity rating. The sensitivity (measured in dBs) gives you a good way to compare the efficiency of different speakers. All other factors the same, a speaker with a 3 dB higher sensitivity will sound about "twice" as loud. i.e. a speaker with a 90dB sensitivity given 15W RMS will sound approximately the same as a 87dB speaker given 30W RMS.

6x8 infinity reference series all the way around I cut 6 holes in my 06 after having it for about 8 months and don't regret it at all even with the stock head unit it was three times clearer I have no amp pushing the door speakers and can just about run you out of the seat with the highs

I also installed an extra set of tweeters in my dash where my twelve volt plug and coin holder was

I went with Polk Audio speakers in all doors...(DB571) I have those tiny little rear doors on my standard cab.

Then a Kenwood KAC-8405 720W amp to drive them and the single Sony 12 inch sub.... And wow that woke up the truck...

I still have to stock head unit.

How did you secure those tweeters? Since mine has the hole but no speakers, do not see any place to secure them.

Thanks

It comes with an accessory piece that allows you to secure them with metal tabs that screw to the back of the tweeter.
