I'm having some serious difficulty trying to figure out what to do with my radio situation.

I have a 2011 Platinum with the early Ford MySync navigation unit, which SUCKS. Originally I had planned on swapping it out for a large screen aftermarket android navigation unit, like one of these:

The problem is, I dont think that I can. I have a platinum, so the hvac controls and seat heater control and all that go through the factory nav. I wouldnt mind losing it to gain the android radio, but I dont think its as simple as swapping to that unit due to the wiring harness and modules that control those features.

So now I'm lost. I use waze and spotify daily in my other vehicles. So far the best idea I have is using the costal air lockpick to wirelessly mirror my phone screen to the unit... but that sucks because obviously the touch controls arent mirrored. and youd have to use your phone for EVERYTHING.

Anyone have ANY other solutions?

I wonder if you could switch it out for a head unit from a 2015+ with Sync 3. It would have the heated/cooled seat controls, and HVAC controls. You wouldn't have the ambient lighting (could be added) but that's not a big deal. You'd also have android auto on there, or Apple Carplay if you update the software and use a newer USB hub.

I wish. Supposedly they have complete different bus systems. Thats why you can upgrade from 2-> 3 but not 1-2.

Ah, well damn... Isn't there physical buttons for the seat controls? I know the HVAC system has physical controls.

This might have been brought up before but I thought the Raptor had little marker lights on bottom of the fenders and under the tail lights.

Indeed, but I am not sure if they work independent of the nav.

That's fairly easy to test if you've got an hour to spare. Pull your factory stereo and then turn on the different controls. I know on my '16 if the 4x4 switch is unplugged it defaults to 4Hi and locks the rear end. So it may kill your HVAC, but then again it might not. Just depends on how the wiring is ran. I'd pull the stock stereo and see if the controls still work. If they don't then I'd look into "hiding" the stock stereo behind the dash to keep HVAC functionality, and install a tablet or android HU.
