Want to build a buget off-roader
My buddy has an older F-150, (believe it's a 1996) that he bought for heading out into the desert. Previously, I owned a Jeep Wrangler 1989 Islander edition = $$$ pit! Damn thing was unreliable (hydraulic clutch system major a weakness followed by the carburetor).
So my good friend showed me how useful a Craigslist F-150 can be for camping and off-roading. Also, he told me parts are plentiful which helps when things break or need to be replaced.
Well, my plan is too learn what model years are best for building a descent off-road worthy truck for camping as well as general use in hauling plywood sheets. My buddy said he spent nearly $5k total which included replacing the motor with a crated rebuild engine.
Looking forward to learn from other members here on their budget builds.
Thanks

Welcome.
Beauty in Fords is almost all parts are available cheap, either through local parts places, or rock auto (for OEM replacement)
as for off-road....if you do it right, it can be just as capable as a wrangler despite having IFS up front. Lockers of course, appropriate lift for ground clearance....
good luck!
