Default Using oil

My 04 I just got off a friend has got 192k on it and has the typical triton tick. He had it parked for several months only driving it down the road to keep somewhat use out of it. He said right before he his new truck it starting using oil quite a bit (1-2 quarts a week). When I got it home I notice the oil fill tube was wiggly and the seal was rubbed flat and a hole had been burned into the bottom side of it. I got a new one put on and I can tell it’s not idling near as bad but I checked the dipstick a week after changing the oil and fill tube and sure enough it’s still using 1-2 quarts of oil. Least expensive place to check next???

Welcome to the forum. Look under the truck & around the valve covers for any signs of a leak.

I have inspected everywhere and there is oil residue in several places and not being able to get a true through and through clear visible answer… I’m considering a full complete all around gasket replacement. Manifold valve covers etc…

If it’s using 1-2 quarts a week and there is no oil on the ground under the truck, you may have some small oil weeps but they aren’t your problem.
You have an internal engine issue.
