Thanks Rigrat, but as it turns out after visiting the body shop at my dealer, I only need to disassemble the mirror housing and replace the electric motor which is broken. the mirror housing isn't broken just needs to be refitted and steel wool applied to the house paint that's on the surface. I won't need to go into the door panel fortunately. They sold me a replacement motor at a discount so I'm happy.
